WWE SmackDown, also known as Friday Night SmackDown, is scheduled for August 18, 2023, to air live from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. In this edition of SmackDown Edge, he will be celebrating his 25th anniversary. To commemorate 25 years in WWE, Edge will take on Sheamus. Rey Mysterio will be featured in the Grayson Waller Effect. Grayson Waller Effect featuring Rey Mysterio
The Grayson Waller Effect will be hosted by Grayson Waller in the ring. Santos Escobar and the recently crowned United States Champion Rey Mysterio are his guests tonight, so he talks about celebrating Edge’s career and promises that the Rated R Superstar will thank him for making him relevant once more.
Rey and Waller congratulate Mysterio on their victories, and Rey says it’s fantastic to be the US Champion once more. Grayson responds by making fun of Escobar and saying he can only imagine how it feels. Waller inquires as to whether they are co-champions after Mysterio claims that Austin Theory devised a strategy that they jointly thwarted.

WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights: LA Knight vs. Austin Theory for a United States Championship Opportunity
The Miz enters the ring ahead of the match. Theory assaults Knight when he is preoccupied. The commentary desk welcomes Miz. Over Knight in the corner, theory is at work. Knight throws a lariat out of the corner. Knight’s elbow dropped on the second rope. The theory gets going. LA Knight slams the door.
Once more, theory takes off. LA Knight exits the ring due to theory. Knight stands up, but Theory covers him from head to toe. Miz rises and applauds Theory. Theory’s head repeatedly hits the commentary desk as a result of Knight’s repeated blows.
The theory is flung at Miz by Knight. Theory and Knight alternate attempting pins after the break. Knight starts moving and does a jumping neckbreaker. Theory crouches in a corner. Before putting down a running knee, Knight puts on a few boots.
Before Knight is able to flee A Town Down and secure a Michinoku driver, the two men trade moves. On the apron, Miz Knight follows Miz. Theory rolls up Knight to win amid the confusion.

Video Package honoring Edge
After watching a video package in which John Cena, Sheamus, Natalya, The Miz, Charlotte Flair, and Sami Zayn congratulate and thank Edge for his 25 years of service, we take a break.
WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights: Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky and Bayley w/Dakota Kai) vs. Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair
Belair and Bayley go first. Bianca takes them down with a waistlock, holds them in a side headlock, blocks their shoulders in the corner, and then the EST suplexes her! She is briefly isolated thanks to a tag to Flair and Damage CTRL, but Charlotte unloads on Sky and kicks her off the stage!
Damage CTRL is eliminated by the cannonball senton off the apron. When Bayley quickly stands back up and executes a military press slam out of the corner for two, Flair is able to escape a side headlock, whip to the corner, and STO backbreaker into a reverse STO in the turnbuckles. SKY tags in, La Mistica into a crossface, but Charlotte fights to her feet and throws her aside!
As she crawls for the tag, IYO cuts her off, underhooks, and does a tremendous back body drop, clearing the way, but SKY removes the tag! Bianca joins in and starts cleaning after a little back and forth. Handspring moonsault, IYO with a knee dropkick, Bayley legal while holding onto Belair’s braid, but the EST simultaneously drops both of them!

After some confusion, Flair enters the ring. A handspring into a lariat, then a fallaway slam—nope! Bayley has a near fall while going out and back in, dragging Charlotte Flair with her, tagging, and consulting over the top, but no one is home! Charge in with a Shotei from Rock Flair, but Charlotte dodges, and Bayley tags herself back in. Belair tags in and applies a backbreaker rack after Bayley’s attempted figure-four leglock is rebuffed.
Winner – Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair
Grade – B+
WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights: Good Brothers (“Machine Gun” Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
Ford was beaten by Gallows and Anderson. Ford shocks Anderson with a lariat. Dawkins is brought in after Ford tags him, kicking Anderson to the curb. Dawkins successfully executes a spinning neck breaker. The pin is broken by Gallows. The Magic Killer was arranged by Gallows and Anderson.
Dawkins escapes the situation by kicking. Gallows is killed when Ford successfully lands a dive. Ford receives a blind tag. Ford lands a neck breaker as Dawkins launches Anderson into the Sky High. Anderson is pinned by Ford.

Grade – B
After Street Profits capture victory, Bobby Lashley joins Steet Profits on the Ring to celebrate.
Backstage: Paul Heyman is interviewed by Kayla Braxton
He scoffs at the thought that she will approach him about rumors and berates her incessantly before picking up a call that initially looks to have some good news but ends abruptly. He also refuses to give her an update on the health of the Bloodline or Roman Reigns’ mental state.
When pressed, he refuses to reveal his source, claiming that the information is factual, a spoiler, and that Jimmy Uso would appear live on SmackDown the next week.

WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights: Edge vs. Sheamus
Edge defeats Sheamus with a collar and elbow, then they lock up again with the Celtic Warrior applying a side headlock. Following a shoot-off and shoulder block, the Irish Curse leaves the Rated R Superstar staring off into the distance.
Sheamus is in pain as he repeatedly crab-claws his hand, nearly sending Edge-O-Matic to the ground and then following it up with a powerbomb. Sheamus catches him with a tilt-a-whirl slam for two after Edgecator prevents his dive inside with up kicks. Edge punches the Celtic Warrior as they move into the apron after Beats of the Bodhran are blocked. They hit the ground in a collision.
THE SPEAR IS BLOCKED BY A KNEE! A BROGUE KICK! HOWEVER, EDGE KICKS OUT! Edge avoids a second Brogue, and then he’s in the right place. SHEAMUS PUNS THE SPEAR AWAY! Both men charged the other from behind in a line. Edge wins after hitting a second spear.

Grade – A+
As the pyrotechnics start, Edge cheers. Then Sheamus enters to give him a hug. What an occasion! What a thrilling game. Edge, the WWE Universe is proud of you. That’s it for tonight.
