WWE RAW Preview and Predictions for August 21, 2023: Intercontinental Championship Match: Chad Gable vs. Gunther (c)
Since winning “The Ring General” Gunther’s five-minute challenge three weeks ago on Raw, Alpha Academy’s head honcho Chad Gable has been on a roll. After that kind of victory, Gable defeated Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle, and Ricochet in a Fatal 4-Way Match two weeks ago to earn a chance to challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Title.
The following week, the Alpha Academy director made Gunther even angrier when Gable was able to take down Imperium member Giovanni Vinci, while Ludwig Kaiser appeared to be more interested in Maxxine Dupri. Indignant at the course of Imperium’s conflicts with Alpha Academy, Gunther declared that Chad Gable will take advantage of his title opportunity starting next week.
Last RAW Segment
In the last segment of Monday Night RAW, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci, and others were present as Gunther spoke about how he was only 25 days away from breaking the record for the longest IC title reign. Alpha Academy showed up to hurl insults during the Chad Gable vs. Gunther IC title fight.
Prior to the fight, Kaiser and Maxxine Dupri got into a heated altercation that ended with her striking him in the face. Vinci swiftly overcame Gable by using his slight size advantage. By countering with his superior grappling abilities, Master Gable quickly overpowered him.
In their first singles combat, despite limited time in the ring together, these two highly skilled wrestlers and athletes seamlessly collaborated. Previously, their fights had mainly consisted of six-man matches at home events. Gable emerged victorious with a rolling German suplex, executed flawlessly after an impressive technical exchange. Following the contest, Gunther wasted no time in challenging Otis to a match, driven by the desire to seek retribution.
Before the match between Otis and The Ring General, Otis entertained the crowd with his dance moves, earning their applause. The confrontation between the two powerhouses was intense, with both fighters exchanging gunfire to gain control. Otis showcased his comedic side while also being portrayed as a serious threat to Gunther, a successful wrestler.
As expected, Gunther emerged as the winner, delivering a powerful powerbomb to Otis. After the match, Gable added to the spectacle by executing a German suplex, throwing Gunther outside the ring.
WWE RAW Preview and Predictions for August 21, 2023: Drew McIntyre & Matt Riddle vs. New Day
One of WWE’s greatest tag teams ever, represented by Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. New Day is all set to make a strong return to Raw. But can the Power of Positivity compete with the enormous promise just demonstrated by the team of Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre?
Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre defeated the Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) on the RAW program on August 14. In the post-match celebration with McIntyre, Riddle announced that they would compete for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Riddle and McIntyre were interrupted backstage by Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. They emphasized that Riddle had only triumphed in a match because of his alliance with McIntyre. The New Day would take on Riddle and McIntyre on Raw the following week, Kofi then announced. He also said that the winning team would be given the chance to compete for the tag team title.
