Summerslam is one of the biggest premium live events of WWE after Wrestlemania. This year WWE Summerslam is going to Detroit, Michigan on August 5, 2023. There are already many speculations about matches and bouts taking place in the pay-per-view. Some really big title matches and some notable undercard matches are rumored for the show. So without wasting any time let’s look at our early match card predictions for SummerSlam 2023.
10. Logan Paul Vs Ricochet
Logan Paul has undoubtedly proved himself in the ring with his latest performances. He has wrestled the likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and The Miz. Although he has lost eighty percent of his matches, he has shown constant determination and love for the sport. He has also wrestled in this year’s Royal Rumble match where he sadly did not win the match but was part of an awesome high-flying sequence with Ricochet. Fans laud both of them for their athleticism and their quickness.
In this Year’s Money in The Bank, both of them again had an interaction and this time Ricochet hit Paul with a Spanish Fly from Ropes onto the Tables. This spot and interaction may lead to their rumored rivalry. We predict that they both will face each other in Summerslam in a very athletic and entertaining match.
9. Rhea Ripley Vs Raquel Rodriguez (Women’s World Championship)
Rhea Ripley is currently the most dominant wrestler on the women’s roster. She is also the Women’s World Champion. Ripley recently defended her title against Natalya in the episode of Monday Night RAW. After successfully winning the Match The Mami went for a post-match beating Natalya.
However, the team of Morgan and Raquel came to Natalya’s aid. In the Backstage segment, Rhea addressed the issue and mentioned that Morgan and Raquel interfered in her Business and that they are now the Judgement Day Business. Rhea and Raquel have a history in NXT as they have faced each other multiple times. We predict that Racquel would challenge Rhea for the Women’s World Championship.
8. Austin Theory Vs LA Knight (United States Championship)
Austin Theory has now held the United States Championship for more than 200 days. He is the first person to do so after Dean Ambrose in 10 years. But the title run of the Theory has been lackluster as to say. With some very limited defenses from the champion. Summerslam is the perfect time for Theory to drop his US title and move on to tag division as such.
Austin Theory is scheduled to defend his title against Sheamus On SmackDown. But we believe that Theory might defend his title against LA Knight in SummerSlam. LA Knight was a fan favorite to win the Money in The Bank Ladder Match. But unfortunately, he didn’t. We believe it’s the right time for WWE management to rectify their mistake and make Theory defend his US title against LA Knight on SummerSlam.
7. Becky Lynch Vs Trish Stratus
Trish betrayed Lynch and cost her the tag team championship in an episode of RAW. The feud between Trish and Lynch had been continuing since. They fought each other at the Clash of Champions premium live event. In the match, we got to witness the debut of Zoey Stark on the main roster of WWE as she helped Trish win the match by interference.
Since Lynch has not been able to secure a one-on-one singles match with Stratus. We believe there is no better place than SummerSlam to end the feud. Therefore, according to us, Becky will fight Trish at SummerSlam and finally get her revenge.
6. Drew McIntyre Vs Gunther (Intercontinental Championship)
Drew McIntyre made a surprising return after 3 months hiatus in Money In The Bank PLE. Drew was last seen on WWE television in Wrestlemania wrestling against Sheamus and Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship. Drew made his shocking return and had an altercation with the Ring General Gunther.
In the end, McIntyre was on top holding the Intercontinental Championship in his hands. This indicates that McIntyre might challenge Gunther for Intercontinental Championship in the SummerSlam. Recently, McIntyre is also booked to face Imperium alongside Riddle. Thus we firmly believe McIntyre would face Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.
5. Ronda Rousey vs Shayna Baszler (Loser Leaves)
In the Money in The Bank PLE, Baszler betrayed Rousey and caused them the Unified Tag team Titles. Shayna’s turn is definitely going to result in a long awaiting feud between the two. Shayna also had given clear signs of her not being done with the Rousey.
With SummerSlam scheduled for August this year, expect Ronda to challenge Shayna for a match at SummerSlam. We also predict that the stakes of the match would be higher than ever as former friends will clash at the SummerSlam PLE in a much anticipated stipulated match. It could be a Non-DQ or I Quit match but we believe that Ronda would wrestle Shayna in a Loser Leaves match at the SummerSlam PLE.
4. Seth Rollins Vs Finn Balor (World Heavyweight Championship)
Seth Rollins successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Balor on Money in The Bank PLE. Following the PLE, Rollins has been facing a lot of troubles from the members of Judgement Day. Judgement Day has unfinished business with the superstar and expect one of the members of Judgement Day to challenge Seth for the championship.
There are rumors surrounding that Dominik may challenge Seth for the championship at SummerSlam. But we believe it would be Finn Balor who would challenge Seth for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. But that’s not the end as Damien Preist may cash in the Briefcase and make it a Triple Threat Match.
3. Asuka Vs Charlotte Flair Vs Bianca Belair (WWE Women’s Championship)
Asuka recently defended her WWE Championship against Flair on an episode of SmackDown. The match however ended in a DQ as Belair attacked Asuka during the match. Belair has constantly made her point that she is not with Asuka and that she wants the WWE Women’s Title opportunity.
The abrupt ending between Asuka and Flair’s match also opens the door for a rematch between the two. We believe that Asuka is going to defend her WWE Women’s Title against Flair and Belair in a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam PLE.
2. Brock Lesnar Vs Cody Rhodes (Steel Cage)
Brock and Cody have wrestled each other two times. Rhodes won the first match at Clash of Champions PLE and Lesnar won their second match in Backlash pay-per-view in Puerto Rico. Thus there would be a third and final match to conclude this Brock and Rhodes feud.
We believe Lesnar is going to face Rhodes in a Steel Cage Match at SummerSlam. Yes. The match between the two has to have some kind of stipulation. Stipulations such as Bull Rope Match or I Quit match are rumored. But we believe that Brock Lesnar would face Cody Rhodes in a Steel Cage Match.
1. Roman Reigns Vs Jey Uso (Undisputed WWE Universal Championship)
Roman Reigns got pinned by his cousin Jey Uso for the first time in 3.5 years in the money in the bank pay-per-view in London. This came as a shocker to Roman who was not expecting it at all. Following is the Tribal Court on SmackDown where Roman is going to be persecuted. The Bloodline storyline has a lot to offer.
And we believe that Jey Uso would be the right candidate to challenge Roman for the Undisputed Universal Championship. We believe there would be a big twist awaiting in Madison Square Garden which would then lead to Jey challenging Roman. But our final prediction states that Roman Reigns is going to defend his Undisputed championship against his cousin Jey Uso.
