SummerSlam is one of the biggest pay-per-views of WWE after Wrestlemania. There are lots of surprises and returns expected on the show. SummerSlam this year comes to the City of Detroit on Aug 5. There are lots of rumors and speculations surrounding the event. One such rumor was also the reunion of the NXT tag team DIY consisting of the likes of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. But now the reports state that DIY reunion plans for SummerSlam have been scrapped.
The road for SummerSlam always has a lot of buzz around it. WWE likes to keep its fans happy by making memorable moments and surprises. According to rumors, there were plans for the major NXT group i.e DIY to reunite for the SummerSlam. If rumors are true then WWE was supposedly planning the reunite the former friends and arch-nemesis Johny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa for a run as a tag team on the main roster.
There were also rumors for the DIY team to challenge the Undisputed Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens for the titles. The team was also going to get a win against the likes of Zayn and Owens to become the new Unified Tag Team Champions at SummerSlam. There were also rumors for the DIY team to have an extended long reign with the titles.
But now According to the BWE report, the plans for the DIY reunion at SummerSlam are officially scrapped. The report states that the reunion plans for Gargano and Ciampa are cleared out. And the possible reason for the plans getting null is the injury of Gargano. Gargano is supposedly injured for weeks and therefore the change of plans.
Ciampa is recently feuding with The Miz on RAW. And Tommaso Ciampa is going to fight The Miz in a No DQ match in this week’s Monday Night RAW.
Who should challenge the team of KO and Zayn for the titles?
SummerSlam is three weeks away from here. There are a lot of speculations surrounding the event. But the one match that still seems dicey is for the Unified tag titles. According to rumors the DIY team of Gargano and Ciampa were going to challenge KO and Zayn for the titles. But now reports suggest that these plans have officially been scrapped.
So the only team remaining, which we believe is likely to challenge the Tag Champions are The Street Profits. Both teams have faced each other before and have a ton of chemistry between them. Both the teams have lots of diversity in moveset as well as from the storytelling point of view both are different. So expect the match between the two to be a banger.
The only problem is that both teams are Babyfaces. And therefore may find it difficult to translate the same energy and passion into the story. We believe that The Street Profits are going to challenge KO and Zayn for the Unified tag titles at SummerSlam.
