After making her much-awaited return last week on RAW to beat up Trish Stratus, Becky Lynch appeared this week to address her former friend. The Man’s appearance headlined this week’s RAW, along with Rhonda Rousey & Shayna Baszler making their appearance on the red brand.
This week’s RAW saw a bunch of entertaining matches and storylines being progressed further, with Cody Rhodes coming out and address Brock Lesnar costing him a championship opportunity last week. Read on to get the full recap of this week’s Monday Night RAW.
Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens Kick Off the Show
The Undisputed Tag Team Champions kicked off RAW, itching for a fight. Owens and Zayn made it abundantly clear that they were tired of dancing around the bush with The Bloodline.
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens called out The Judgement Day, which eventually ended in a brawl. Finn Balor, Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio had the numbers advantage, which led to them gaining momentary advantage over the champions. The champions stood tall, despite Owens being all beat-up after the confrontation.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs The Miz
The career of The Miz has been in a downward spiral lately. Not only has The A-Lister jobbed to pretty much everyone for the past few months, his career has been looking as dull as ever. He was booked to face Shinsuke Nakamura this week, and safe to say, it didn’t go well for him.
After surviving a cheap eye rake and a Skull Crushing Finale, Shinsuke Nakamura hit the Kinshasa on Miz to pick up the win. The King of Strong Style competed in last week’s World Championship tournament, which he eventually failed to win. Fans wonder what plans does Triple H have for the King of Strong Style.
No.1 Contender Battle Royale for the Intercontinental Championship
Current Intercontinental Champion Gunther came out to announce a Battle Royale to determine a challenger for his title at Night of Champions.
Notable superstars like Apollo Crews, Matt Riddle, Mustafa Ali, Johnny Gargano and several others participated in the match. In the end, it was Mustafa Ali who scored a well-deserving victory. He would go on to face Gunther for the IC Championship at Night of Champions on 27th May.
Becky Lynch addresses Trish Stratus
The Man made her return last week on RAW, ever since being betrayed by Trish Stratus. Becky Lynch delivered an outstanding promo, in which she confirmed their match at Night of Champions.
In her promo, Lynch said that the WWE Hall of Famer had reawakened a fire inside her that had been dormant for too long. She even called Stratus a “backstabbing snake” at some point. She concluded by confirming their clash at Night of Champions on 27th May.
Dominik Mysterio vs Xavier Woods
While not being an eventful match, it further cemented Dominik Mysterio as one of the most hated heels in WWE.
As Woods acknowledged the numbers not being in his favour, he did tease the New Day’s return during his promo. In the end, Dominik picked up the victory, thanks to a well-timed assist from Rhea Ripley.
The Debut of Indus Sher
This match marked the debut of a new fearsome faction, named Indus Sher. In the match, Veer and Sanga took on some unnamed competitors.
As one could easily tell just by looking at the four men in the ring, it was a squash match. Veer and Sanga looked to establish their dominance, while Jinder Mahal proclaimed that Indus Sher will rule the red brand. Only time will tell how WWE creative ends up booking them.
Cody Rhodes responds to Brock Lesnar
The American Nightmare delivered yet another engaging and brilliant promo, where he called out The Beast for costing him a title opportunity last week.
After their match at Backlash, where Cody Rhodes defeated Brock Lesnar via rollup, the two are set to clash again at Night of Champions. The Beast is out for blood after his embarrassing defeat at Backlash. Rhodes accepted his challenge, while saying that Lesnar was simply in his way.
Raquel Rodriguez vs Chelsea Green; Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler make their debut on RAW
While this wasn’t much interesting in itself, it featured the debut of Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler on the red brand.
Raquel Rodriguez was without Liv Morgan beside her side this week. Although it did allow some distractions from Sonya Deville, Rodriguez ended up winning. However, she was suddenly attacked by The Baddest Woman On The Planet and her trusty partner. It actually made sense, considering Rowdy and Baszler won the SmackDown Showcase event at WrestleMania 39. The two are now next in line for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens vs The Judgement Day
It looks like Zayn and Owens have not only got beef with The Bloodline, but also The Judgement Day and Imperium. Judgement Day’s Damian Priest and Finn Balor faced off against Zayn and Owens in a tag team match in the main event of the night.
It was a pretty good match, which saw Judgement Day emerging victorious thanks to Imperium distracting the official, while Imperium held Sami Zayn’s leg. Balor hit him with the shotgun dropkick and finished him off with the Coup de Grace.
