SmackDown this week was presented from the MSG and they surely kept the crowd hyped up. A big help to achieve this feat was done by the Bloodline segment at the start. Though the segment kept the fans at their feet, WWE cut short all the other matches and segments to cope with time.
WWE SmackDown this week opened with an outstanding Bloodline segment which hyped up the whole crowd. Roman Reigns was presented in the tribal court after his shocking loss at Money in the Bank to Usos. The Bloodline Civil War impacted Roman’s reputation as the Tribal Chief and it looked like the wheel will be shifted. Roman again turned the tables and attacked The Usos, signaling he was still the Head of Bloodline.
Roman delivered a class act throughout the segment showing different emotions throughout. Bloodline started as well as ended this week’s SmackDown show.
Though the segment delivered and gained quite a reaction from the crowd, it went longer than it was scheduled. The opening Bloodline segment was scheduled to be 20 minutes long including the brawl. Roman Reigns and co. took it to the limit and extended the whole segment stretching it for 40 minutes. This led to a change of plans for other segments and matches as they were cut short.
It is still unknown how backstage things were handled and how officials reacted to cutting short matches. However, the women’s segment was about to be canceled but somehow a brawl was contested. A brawl involving Asuka, Bianca Belair, and Charlotte Flair was seen followed by a failed attempt to cash in by Iyo Sky. The segment went faster than it was originally planned.
Another match that was cut short due to the Bloodline segment was AJ Styles vs Karrion Kross. Karrion’s entrance was also shortened due to lack of time. The match itself finished quickly with fewer spots and a quick pinfall by AJ.
Is another Bloodline Civil War incoming?
The Bloodline segment went on to reveal another exciting matchup for SummerSlam. The show came to an end with Jey Uso having the Undisputed World championship in his hands. Jey has also issued Roman Reigns a challenge to face him one on one for one last time. This might end the Bloodline saga once and for all at SummerSlam.
It will be interesting to see if Roman accepts the challenge and fights his own Bloodline stablemate at SummerSlam.
