On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, we saw Riddle challenging Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship match at Money in The Bank pay-per-view. Gunther accepted Riddle’s challenge and therefore it’s official that Gunther is going to defend his championship against Riddle in the MITB.
In this latest episode of RAW, we saw WWE setting things up for MITB pay-per-view in London. Riddle and Imperium have been feuding since last month. We also got to see the match between Kaiser and Riddle last week, which Riddle won. But was followed by an assault by the Ring General Gunther. Riddle had enough and before this RAW aired he challenged Gunther to an Intercontinental Championship match at Money in the Bank.
Gunther attacked Riddle backstage and in the process injured Riddle’s Leg and then went on to accept the challenge. Therefore, it is confirmed that we are getting to see Ring General Gunther defend his championship against Riddle. Gunther has been carrying the Intercontinental Championship for too long. On 10 June, Gunther surpassed the 365-day mark as Intercontinental Champion. He is even closer to beating the record for the longest reign which is of 454 days by Tonk Man. It’s interesting to see whether WWE is going to break the current record or make Gunther lose the gold to Riddle as we see below.
Randy Orton to Interfere in the Intercontinental Championship Title Match?
Yes. You heard it right. There are rumors surrounding that Randy Orton is going to interfere in the Intercontinental Championship Match. This comes after Kurt Angle in his podcasts talked about Orton’s Condition. He told that Orton has recovered completely and would return to the squared circle sooner than later. Thus, there were rumors that Randy would return at Money in the Bank or at Summerslam.
But the bout between Gunther and Riddle for the Intercontinental Championship gives a sign that there is a possibility of Randy Orton interfering in between the match to even the numbers at the pay-per-view. Just before Orton went on hiatus due to his back injury, Orton and Riddle worked together as a Tag team named RK-BRO. RK-BRO was a very fun tag team and Randy was having a great time in that storyline.
Therefore, it’s going to be exciting to watch whether Randy interferes in the match or not. And if Randy does in fact interfere, then whether Gunther is going to lose the title to the Riddle in the Money in the Bank or not.
