11 Times World Champion, Edge accepted 25 years old Austin Theory’s challenge for the US title.
Earlier today, Austin Theory retained his WWE United States Championship with a little assistance from Logan Paul, who interrupted the match. Theory won the elimination chamber match last night by beating 5 competitors including Seth Rollins, Johnny Gargano, Damian Priest, Bronson Reed, and Montez Ford to remain the United States Champion.
In the post-match conference of the event, Theory got overconfident. He was overconfident in his abilities and asked who is next to compete with him for the US title. He puts on an open challenge to anyone who could face him on the upcoming episodes of Monday Night Raw.
I guess we got a challenge as later in the conference, Edge and Beth Phoenix showed up, and after answering all the questions from the media, in which Edge mentions that it’s been a long since he hold any WWE title, and looks like he got a chance.
He said, “I saw the kid out here with the shades, coz I guess it’s really bright. An open challenge? We’re in Ottawa Monday. I haven’t wrestled there in 17-18 years. I haven’t had gold in a while. I mean, I retired as World Heavyweight Champion. He was a Cena fan, so he’s clearly stupid. That being said,” mocking Theory’s appearance and his constant imitation of wrestling legend John Cena.
Furthermore, “I respect Cena because he has a work ethic which is something I don’t know that Austin Theory has, Maybe we prove that Monday when I accept his US Championship Open Challenge. I think I need to kick his teeth down his throat. So that’s going to happen in Ottawa if he accepts.” Edge shows his respect towards the 13-time World Champion and admires his work ethic.
On the other hand, he thinks that his other admirer, Austin Theory might not have that ethic and discipline and wants to show him his place by teaching him a lesson inside the ring. Edge accepts Austin’s open challenge for his WWE United States Championship title which he won just tonight after a distraction created by Logan Paul.
Long story short: the WWE superstar accepted the challenge of Austin Theory and there is a possibility that in the next episode of Monday Night Raw, we might get to see Edge vs Austin Theory for the WWE United States Title.
