WWE is going to host their next event in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The daily of Detroit, The Detroit News announced that the wrestling company is making its move to The Motor City for the event of SummerSlam on August 5th.
Detroit is the largest city in the midwestern state of Michigan and it is also the 28th largest city in The United States with a population estimated as of 2023 with over 616,710 people living and working in it.
Now the biggest wrestling company announced that will host the event of SummerSlam 2023. But is it the first time WWE go to Detroit?
Is this the first time in Detroit?
The answer is no, WWE is not going to Detroit for the first time, they have hosted events there. WWE hosted WrestleMania in 2007, however, since then there was no event that has taken place here. In the state of Michigan, this SummerSlam would be the first SummerSlam since 1993.
The tickets will be on sale after April 4th on the website given by the company or via TicketMasters.com and not that’s it, exclusive passes will be provided, you just need to follow the steps properly instructed on the website itself.
WWE’s announcement for Ford Field
Dan Ventrelle, EVP, Talent at WWE said, “We are excited for Ford Field to host WWE’s biggest event of the summer and look forward to the WWE Universe converging on Detroit to celebrate SummerSlam’s long-awaited return to Michigan,”.
“Landing WWE SummerSlam at Ford Field is a signature win for Detroit and continues the momentum of the Detroit Sports Commission in attracting major sporting events to the region,” said DSC Executive Director Dave Beachnau.
He further added to his statement, “Metro Detroit enjoys a special place in WWE history and has produced many iconic moments. Thank you to the entire WWE family for entrusting us with this incredible opportunity, and we look forward to delivering a first-class experience.”
So, on August 5th, 2023, The SummerSlam event of WWE will go to Ford Field, Detroit.
