All Elite Wrestling CEO Tony Khan and his father Shahid Khan are reportedly interested in purchasing the biggest pro wrestling business, WWE. Portals familiar with the whole scenario have stated about the Khans’ interest in buying WWE.
Shahid Khan is a Pakistani-American billionaire businessman and sports tycoon. He’s the father of Tony Khan, who’s the Chief Executive Officer of AEW. Shahid is also the co-owner of All Elite Wrestling. In addition, Tony Khan is also the part owner of Ring of Honor.
Vince McMahon recently returned to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) earlier this month. Last year in July, Mr McMahon had to step down as the CEO of WWE. In an ongoing investigation, it was disclosed that he paid 14.6 million in hush money to several women who alleged sexual misconduct between 2006 and 2022.
As he turned down, Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon were named as the co-CEOs of the professional wrestling promotion. Moreover, Paul Michael Levesque, better known by his ring name, Triple H started serving as the chief content officer of the company.
Are Tony Khan and Shahid Khan going to purchase WWE?
It was recently disclosed by a few reports that WWE has been reportedly sold to the Saudi Arabia Public investment fund. However, several reports took the internet to bloom but the sale isn’t really confirmed yet.
Consequently, Saudi Arabia’s PIF remains a front-runner in the race. Other potential buyers for the biggest pro wrestling promotion are Comcast, Disney, Amazon and even Apple. And now, Tony Khan and Shahid Khan have also jumped in the race according to a report from Barron’s, which is a sister publication to the Wall Street Journal.
But it won’t be really easy for the Khans. As the story continued, it stated that the Khans also look forward to a financial partner in the massive purchase. Tony Khan also recently acquired the Ring of Honor, not a long ago, which was on a hiatus since 2021.
