The 10 Best Superstars in the History of NXT
10. Shinsuke Nakamura
Shinsuke Nakamura joined WWE with a lot of expectations. He was already a star in Japan, and he didn’t join the black and gold brand in 2016. Nakamura also won the NXT Championship two times during his tenure. His notable opponents at that time were Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode and Sami Zayn.
9. Sami Zayn
The former Honorary Uce, who’s currently on a mission to dethrone the Tribal Chief has worked a lot in the black and gold brand. Sami Zayn alongside Kevin Owens shared a quite similar storyline to Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. He made an important mark of himself in the initial days of the division.
8. Kevin Owens
Just like Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens was also present in NXT during its initial days. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were great friends. After a fake title celebration with Zayn, Owens gave him a strong powerbomb. With the title, KO moved to the main roster and challenged John Cena. He even defeated him once.
7. Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair has worked in NXT, and what she did was not a cup of tea for the majority. Just like her father, she has a wide arsenal of moves and she’s also a brilliant in-ring technician. The four horsewomen of the gold and black brand, which includes Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch gave a lot to WWE.
6. Becky Lynch
The Man was the face of WWE’s women’s division for a long time. Since her early days in NXT, Becky Lynch was quick to make her mark and establish herself in the promotion. Her success in the division was well followed by her dominance in the main roster of WWE.
5. Adam Cole
After performing brilliantly in Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Adam Cole reached different heights in NXT. He led the Undisputed Era and won every single possible title in the division. Adam Cole also defeated Daniel Bryan in the 2019 Survivor Series while representing NXT.
4. Asuka
Asuka is the longest reigning women’s NXT champion and she held her title for strong 500+ days. However, she had to vacate the belt because she suffered an Injury. The Empress of Tomorrow was utterly the lynchpin of the black and golden brand. She also had a really great time at RAW and SmackDown too.
3. Finn Balor
The leader of Bullet Club, who is currently leading the Judgement Day, Finn Balor won the NXT championship twice and both of his reigns were of more than 200 days. He arrived at WWE after a great time in Japan. Later, he joined the main roster and we saw him becoming the first-ever Universal Champion.
2. Tommaso Ciampa
Tommaso Ciampa alongside his rival as well as friend, Johnny Gargano are the legend of NXT. They were initially friends and as a tag team, they were really successful. But then coming back from an injury, Ciampa turned on Gargano and a heated feud got started. And now, the rest is history. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano’s unsanctioned match at NXT takeover will always go unforgettable.
1. Johnny Gargano
The rivalry between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano shaped the competition in NXT. If Ciampa was the body of NXT, then Gargano was the soul of it. “Johnny Wrestling, Johnny Takeover”, it’s fair to say that he gave it all. Johnny Gargano was the babyface of the greatest feud of the division.
