Just a few hours more to go for the 39th edition of wrestling’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania, and before it, WWE‘s final weekly episode of SmackDown hit the television screen. Here we are to give highlights and updates from the program in case you have missed it.
The last episodes before WrestleMania are always good because their main focus was to create great hype for the main night and SmackDown did exactly that last night. Let’s have a look at some of the great matches from the last episode.
The Usos promo
Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso entered the ring to kick off the show and it took not much time for Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens to interrupt their segment. As we all know, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens challenged The Usos for their WWE Tag Team Title at WrestleMania, and for that, there is already great hype but last night’s verbal fight excites the fans that something great is coming on the big night.
Montez Ford vs Ricochet vs Chad Gable vs Erik Fatal 4-way match
A fast and energetic match between four of the toughest guys. A good set piece of wrestling in the match, but kind of short which made the match a bit slow. When their opponents were flying, Gable and Erik grabbed them and brought them to the ground but still Ricochet was able to defeat three of the other guys and won the match with ease.
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
A traditional battle royal in the honor of WWE’s legend and Hall of Famer, Andre: The Giant. This Battle Royal features stars like Mustafa Ali, Rick Boogs, Elias, Cruz del Toro, Joaquin Wilde, ma.çé, mån.sôör, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander, Angel, Humberto, Ashante Thee Adonis and Top Dolla, Braun Strowman, Otis, Ivar, Angelo Dawkins, Johnny Gargano, Xavier Woods, LA Knight, Bobby Lashley, Karrion Kross, Baron Corbin, Bronson Reed, Madcap Moss, Santos Escobar, Dexter Lumis, Butch, Ridge Holland, Dolph Ziggler.
Pretty much all of them have nothing much to do at WrestleMania. The surprising inductee was Bobby Lashley who even won the Battle Royal after showcasing an amazing game of Wrestling.
Raquel Rodriguez vs Sonya Deville vs Shayna Baszler vs Natalya in a Fatal 4-way Match
Second fatal 4-way match of the night and this time the ladies of WWE delivered a good match to show us. This match was better than the men’s in my opinion, they were not in a rush of anything, trying to compete with calm and composure. The match, however, was not hardcore like the men’s but it was a good match and pretty enjoyable.
Raquel Rodriguez won the match by delivering a big boot and performing the Tejada bomb on Sonya Deville.
Drew McIntyre and Sheamus against Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci
A question that always arises is whether would Drew McIntyre and Sheamus could work together. Well, I guess yes, as they together beat The Imperium last night at SmackDown. The match was not a total banger, I guess it made sense as it’s just 2 days to go for the WrestleMania and it was not a big fight that was worth much energy.
Simple technique and great coordination resulted in a win for them. This made clear that they can world together, at least when WrestleMania and a title are at stake.
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns face to face (Again)
There was not much left for both of them to say to each other, pretty much everything is done, I don’t know why they are again inside the ring together after last Raw’s segment. But anyways, Roman didn’t say much last night, he just listen to Rhodes. Rhodes on the other hand talked sense. He said, “As an athlete and a man, I am as ready as I have ever been,”.
