After winning this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match, Rhea Ripley is all set to take on The Queen, Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania.
The first time that the two women shared the ring together, was in 2019, in an episode of SmackDown, where Ripley’s team and Flair’s team faced off before their 5-on-5-on-5 Triple Threat Elimination match at Survivor Series. The next time they faced each other, was when Charlotte challenged Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Rhea lost the title to Flair, but the two continued to have more feuds in the future. This time, however, the roles are reversed, as Ripley challenged The Queen after winning this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble Match.
The two have been exchanging words and taunts and even brawling at one point, weeks before their match at WrestleMania. It’s safe to say that it’s shaping up to be quite an interesting match. Both these superstars have clashed previously as well, however, they weren’t quite as interesting as this one is shaping up to be.
Ripley promised that she would make Charlotte fear her during their match. She might not fear or even respect her now, but she eventually will.
Rhea Ripley vs Ronda Rousey was originally planned for WrestleMania 39
On another unrelated note, before Ronda Rousey lost her SmackDown Women’s Champion title to Charlotte, she was originally meant to face Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania this year.
This is pretty surprising news, as we thought that the plan was always to have Ripley vs Flair at The Showcase of the Immortals. Sean Sapp from Fightful has reported that the initial plan was to have Rousey face off against Ripley at WrestleMania 39. However, plans changed when Rousey wanted to take some time off from WWE Television. Thus, resulting in Charlotte’s last-minute title win.
This would have been a big matchup, as we would get to see the two heavy hitters duke it out on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Ronda Rousey has herself shown interest in returning soon and facing Ripley in a match. Whether that’s going to happen or not, remains to be seen. For now, we are looking forward to Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39. Stay tuned to see who emerges victorious!
