7. Steve Blackman
Steve Blackman was one of the absolute stars in the attitude era. He used to feature every week on Monday night RAW during the attitude era. Blackman also won the Hardcore Championship a couple of times while his feud with Shane McMahon got him into the limelight. But the hardcore star hung up his boots at the age of 40 due to severe Injuries. He currently runs a self-defence school.
6. Paige
Since her arrival in the business, Paige was among the top names in female wrestling. Because of her skills and bold looks, she instantly managed to become a fan favourite. She was a two-time WWE Divas Champion and the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion. But two consecutive neck injuries totally sidelined her from WWE. She wrestled in her last match in December 2017. Although she’s currently signed to AEW, with her real name Saraya.
5. Owen Hart
Owen Hart was a crucial part of the Hart Foundation and he was also the brother of wrestling great Bret Hart. He was a really technical and hard-working superstar. Owen Hart already has a lot of glory in WWE but it would have been more if he hadn’t been injured. We lost the wrestling icon in 1999 when he was making his entry in the ring tied from the harness.

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat was a true sportsperson as well as a gentleman during his time in WWE. A lot of wrestlers and most noticeably, Nature Boy Ric Flair has regarded Ricky Steamboat as the best wrestler he has ever faced. But the Dragon had to quit wrestling because of severe injuries. However, Ricky Steamboat has recently made a return to All Elite Wrestling and he also can have a final match.
3. Bret “The Hitman” Hart
The leader of the Hart Foundation, Bret “The Hitman” Hart is third on the list. One of the greatest in-ring technicians, Bret Hart didn’t get a perfect end to his WWE career. Hart suffered a serious concussion after he took a kick from Goldberg. He somehow completed the match but then he was forced out of action. But that drafted his withdrawal from pro wrestling. Until this day, he hasn’t accepted the apology from Goldberg.
2. Mick Foley
Mick Foley was surely made for WWE. He’s arguably the biggest daredevil in the history of the company. Foley never even thought two times before making a heart-wrenching jump. He was also known as a hardcore expert during his glorious career. But all his breathtaking stunts gave him a lot of pain and eventually an early retirement. His body suffered from severe injuries and a few of them gave him permanent damage.
1. Stone Cold Steve Austin
It was Steve Austin who was single-handedly responsible for the rise of WWE in the attitude era. Moreover, Stone Cold Steve Austin has been always at the top of the list of most entertaining Superstars in WWE. But during a match against Owen Hart in SummerSlam 1997, Austin suffered a broken neck that left him almost paralyzed. Following the gruesome injury, he had to go through a plethora of surgeries. But we saw his comeback for the last match in WrestleMania 38.
