After WWE, All Elite Wrestling is the fastest-growing promotion of pro wrestling. Several former WWE superstars that were released falsely under Vince McMahon played a crucial role in the making of Tony Khan’s side. But we can’t discredit AEW as they have also been successful in building world-class wrestlers. Tony Khan’s promotion had a brilliant year in 2022. So, let’s take a look at the top 7 All Elite Wrestling wrestlers of the year.
Top 7 AEW Wrestlers in 2022
7. Kenny Omega
Kenny Omega made his comeback in 2021 Full Gear, and since then he has never looked back. Omega broke into the main picture after he lifted the AEW World Trios Championship alongside the Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) by defeating Andrade, Rush, and Dragon Lee. Kenny Omega has suffered from a lot of injuries throughout his career, but in 2022 he proved that he is still one of the best in the world.
6. Rey Fenix
The second half of the Lucha Brothers, Rey Fenix is a furious high-flyer. Rey Fenix is so effortless and light on the ground and it seems like he’s literally living in the year. His in-ring activities are a joy to the eyes and he never fails to provide awe-inspiring moments in the match. He’s also the current and youngest AEW World Trios Championship alongside Pac and Penta El Zero M.
5. Adam Page
Adam “Hangman” Page has been a prominent member of All Elite Wrestling since the promotion started in 2019. But as years passed, his importance started diminishing in the promotion. After being AEW’s top prospect between 2019 and 2021, Page didn’t have a really happening 2022. But his fights against Bryan Danielson, Lance Archer, Adam Cole, and CM Punk made him a chart-topper. Adam Page is also a former AEW World Champion and former AEW World Tag Team Champion.
4. Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF)
Current All Elite Wrestling Champion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman defeated Jon Moxley to get his hands on the title. He’s a star utterly made by Tony Khan and his promotion. Most of the stars that became the face of the company were former WWE superstars such as Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose, Bryan Danielson formerly known as Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and Chris Jericho. But in the case of Maxwell Jacob Friedman, we can say that he’s a total AEW star.
3. Bryan Danielson
As the majority of the WWE universe thinks, Bryan Danielson was underutilized and also underappreciated during his time in that promotion. He was among the favourite candidates to win the title on multiple occasions and even win the Royal Rumble. But that never actually happened. Another reason for that was also his being injury prone. But irrespective of everything, Bryan made a glorious comeback in 2022. And with that, he displayed his ability to not give up.
2. Dax Harwood
Dax Harwood is a part of the most dominant tag teams in pro wrestling currently. The FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) are currently the AAA and IWGP Tag Team Champions. Although they lost in a Double Dog Collar Match on December 10, 2022, against the Briscoes (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe), where they lost their ROH tag team titles. But Dax Harwood hasn’t got his name off the list just for his tag-team performance, he’s also been exceptional in the singles division.
1. Jon Moxley
Over the years, Jon Moxley has emerged as the Lynchpin of All Elite Wrestling. Moxley’s championship unification match against CM Punk will remain the year’s highlight. He’s also the first-ever three-time AEW World Champion. 2022 was the year of comebacks as we also saw Moxley returning from Rehab better than ever. His brilliance in the promotion was unmatchable by any other AEW star as we saw matches such as Moxley vs. Chris Jericho II and Moxley vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi.
