The year, 2022 was a roller coaster ride for WWE. Vince McMahon’s several decade-long reign ended in July because of obvious reasons and then Triple H took over. Since Hunter has taken over the promotion, several changes have been done and almost all are in favour of the success of the company. Few superstars found their way to the main events while few had a forgettable year. So, let’s take a look at the top WWE superstars in 2022.
Top 10 WWE Superstars in 2022
10. Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre had a normal year. It wasn’t really good but on the same hand, it was not so bad. He started his year feuding against Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss. In June, he became the first wrestler to ever kick out of Corbin’s “End of Days” finisher. He later faced Roman Reigns for the Universal title at Clash at the Castle and it was a really special moment for him.
9. Sheamus
There was a time when the WWE universe started disliking Sheamus (mainly when he was part of The Bar). The Great White was also maligned by the audience. But in 2022, he again managed to regain his throne. Alongside Ridge Holland and Butch, Sheamus has been a star on SmackDown in 2022.
8. Seth Rollins
Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins is among the best technicians in modern-day wrestling. He wasn’t on the winning side for major matches but proved that he can be a brilliant heel for the company. He had a huge hand in helping Cody Rhodes mark a majestic return in WWE and he provided three back-to-back classics. The Architect also faced Roman Reigns, Bobby Lashley and Matt Riddle on various occasions.
7. Kevin Owens
Bashing the rumours of joining AEW, KO signed a new contract with WWE at the start of the year. Hence, we saw the real Kevin Owens after the departure of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon in July. He has always been brilliant with the mic and his in-ring skills should not go to waste. We believe that under Triple H, it will not go to waste and Kevin Owens will have an amazing 2023.
6. The Usos
The Usos’ broke the New Day’s record and became the longest-reigning Tag champions in WWE history. The two brothers share an unbreakable bond that is their biggest advantage for them. The Usos stood like the two pillars of the Bloodline and even helped their leader defend his title a number of times on huge stages.
5. Bobby Lashley
The Almighty Bobby Lashley has been the topper of the most reliable superstars list. He’s 46 years old, but when you look at him, he has the agility of a 20-year-old superstar. In 2022, he was nicely utilised by WWE. He defeated Brock Lesnar and held the United States Championship for a considerable time in the year.
4. Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn emerged as the positive element of the heel-stable Bloodline. He became the only reason why people are not hating Roman Reigns and his countrymen. The innocence portrayed by the Honorary Uce has become the biggest thing in WWE over the past few months. Zayn’s induction into the Bloodline helped him in having an unforgettable 2022.
3. Gunthar
The Ring Commissioner has held his strong grasp on the Intercontinental Champion and it didn’t seem like he’s losing it soon. He defeated Ricochet in June in order to win the Intercontinental Championship. Since then, he has managed to protect his title several times on SmackDown, pay-per-views and various live events. He’s also a part of Imperium, alongside Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.
2. Bianca Belair
The RAW Women’s Champion, Bianca Belair had a glorious year. Not even a single female WWE superstar came close to her in 2022. Big names such as Albeit Sasha, Naomi, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch were away from the company at certain points over the year. Hence, it was Bianca Belair who held the women’s division strongly. She was also Indulged in an Extreme Rules WarGames match where her side defeated Damage CTRL, Rhea Ripley and Nikki Cross.
1. Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns had no competition for the top spot on the list. He was victorious for the whole year. Reigns also defeated Brock Lesnar in the title unification match and added another feather to his crown. The Tribal Chief led the Bloodline as well as the whole WWE in 2022. He won against everyone on the roster and his dominant run didn’t seem to end soon.
