The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes has confirmed to the whole WWE universe that he’ll return at the Royal Rumble. Rhodes also stated that he’s coming for Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This all took place at this week’s Monday night RAW.
WWE airing a series of videos on RAW under the title “Road to Recovery” in order to showcase the comeback of the former AEW star. In the last video of three part series, Cody Rhodes made the announcement.
“Since I came back at WrestleMania [last year], I have made it crystal clear what I want. At the Royal Rumble, I’m back!”

Cody’s wife, Brandi Rhodes’ comments were also present in the videos. She praised her husband following his speedy recovery, determination and commendable work-ethic. The American Nightmare had his surgury on June 9, last year. Consequently, the promotion announced that he’ll be out of action for atleast nine months. And if we look at it, we can evidently see that the second generation star is already quite ahead of his recovery schedule.
Cody Rhodes suffered the injury while he was practicing ahead of his bout against The Visionary, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. It looked like he’ll not be able to compete against Rollins at the Hell in the Cell. But, even after the gruesome injury, the second generation superstar gave a five star match. That match has also been regarded as the best match of 2022.
After recovering from the pectoral tendon injury, Rhodes recently handpicked “WWE NXT” superstars Joe Gacy and Carmelo Hayes as the wrestlers helping him train for his in-ring return. If you’re thinking about a fourth rematch between Rhodes and Rollins, then it’s currently highly unlikely to happen.

As the American Nightmare has been targeting “The Tribal Chief”, and it seems like Cody Rhodes will surely be the one to dethrone Roman Reigns and end his almost 900-day WWE Championship run.
Talking about RAW XXX, the return of several WWE Veterans are also confirmed. It also seems like we can also see a glimpse of The Rock before he lock horns against Roman Reigns anytime soon.
