Dean Ambrose’s return rumours recently got fueled up. That happened because WWE United States champion, Austin Theory referred to Seth Rollins as the “third most successful member of The Shield.” But unfortunately, his return is still a far cry for WWE as of now.
Dean Ambrose or we can say Jon Moxley is really renowned among all the Pro Wrestling fans. He made his debut in the 2012 Survivor Series as a member of one of the most dominant factions of all time – The Shield.
Since their debut, the Hounds of Justice were really feared by the whole roster. They just used to come from the stands and thrash opponents. They smashed superstars such as Triple H, Randy Orton, Kane, the Undertaker, John Cena, and more into the table with their signature move, Triple Powerbomb.
But in 2014, the dynamic trio decided to part ways after Seth Rollins betrayed Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. Rollins was highly influenced by Triple H and company as they promised him that they’ll make him the “new face of WWE”.
Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose, later on, went on separate paths. Reigns became the main event performer under Vince McMahon, Rollins was mostly indulged in non-title feuds, while Ambrose was the face of SmackDown for a short time. His feuds with Chris Jericho and AJ Styles were the most memorable. But then The Lunatic Fringe left the company in 2019.
Is Dean Ambrose returning to WWE anytime soon?
Following his departure, Dean Ambrose joined Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling which was in its building stage. Former WWE superstars such as Big Show, Chris Jericho, Buddy Murphy, Ruby Riott, and more also left the company under Vince McMahon’s regime.
Ambrose got rebranded as Jon Moxley under Tony Khan. Consequently, WWE’s fallen prince became an emperor in All Elite Wrestling. He emerged as a really dominant force in the new promotion. Although recently, he lost his AEW title against Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF).
After Vince McMahon announced his retirement in July and Triple H took over as the Chief Creative Director, it felt like Dean Ambrose could possibly return to the business. But all the possibilities have now come to an end as Jon Moxley recently penned a 5-year contract with All Elite Wrestling. His new deal with Tony Khan’s promotion will expire in 2027 leaving the possibility of Shield reunion zero.
