Everyone surely misses the name of Roger Federer in the current Tennis scenario. His absence is always noted in every tournament in some way or other. The fans never fail to reminisce about some of the great Roger Federer moments from now and then.
However, it’s not only the fans that have been hit hard by Roger’s exit from the sport. He himself has been taking it hard after his retirement in 2022. He misses the game and has been left with a void in his heart now that he does not play.
He recently revealed what was the hardest part when he decided to leave Tennis behind forever. Even harder than leaving the game itself. He says the most excruciating part of leaving his Tennis career behind was telling about it to others: to his family, friends, and especially his beloved fans.
In Roger’s own words, “The hardest part about ending a career is actually the weeks & months beforehand when you’re thinking about how & where to best communicate that decision.”
Federer also talks about how he has been handling the new retired life. He says, “You first have to get used to this new everyday life, after all everything is different & the focus of your professional life has shifted. But I suddenly love having so much time for other great things.”
When asked about what he misses the most from the old days, Roger says, “What I miss are the friends that I always automatically saw through playing tennis, like my classmates at school. That was great. You now have to actively arrange appointments with them, which is of course a change. But I enjoy the time with my family even more.”
Roger is now somewhat settled into his new lifestyle. However, he has still not left the game behind. His love for the game still confirms his presence at the major tournaments where he blesses his fans with his presence while enjoying the game himself.
He is also currently present for the Shanghai Masters in China and was spotted interacting with his fans. In the Shanghai Masters 2023, Tennis legend Roger Federer will be awarded with the “Icon Athlete” Honor.
