The possibility of RK-Bro not coming back together is pretty high in WWE. We saw the tag team in action several months ago. And after the injury of Randy Orton, a lot of things about the pair changed.
RK-Bro consisted of Randy Orton and Matt Riddle. Both characters have been portrayed very differently by WWE. Orton has been a heel for the majority of his career, while Riddle has always been a fun-loving and childish babyface.
Initially, the alliance between the two was highly unlikely. But just like a few other experimental tag teams, that eventually worked out to be good. Matt Riddle showed his desire of forming a tag team with the Viper in April 2021.
Shortly after that, they came together to form a good tag team. Surprisingly enough, RK-Bro quickly got a lot of praise from the fans. The unlikely candidates found an instant connection with the WWE Universe and they quickly became an adored partnership.
Following the success, they managed to capture the RAW Tag Team Titles by defeating Omos and AJ Styles in SummerSlam 2021. Afterwards, they started defending their titles at regular intervals against the likes of The Alpha Academy, Street Profits and the Usos.
Why does RK-Bro is getting disbanded by WWE?
However, Randy Orton was struggling with a lot of back issues since 2021. And after losing the tag team titles, Orton got really injured in a backstage brawl against the Bloodline. Although Riddle was surely using some of Randy’s moves in his matches.
According to a recent report from Wrestling Observer, it’s almost clear that WWE has disbanded RK-Bro. The reason behind the disbanding is seen as the uncertainty of Orton as well as the formation of Banger Bros.
The report said “McIntyre & Sheamus are now being called The Banger Bros. A key question from that regards both Orton & Riddle as RKO Bro, which would seem to mean there are no imminent plans for them to return because the WWE doesn’t usually like to do names so similarly. There was a lot of concern regarding Orton’s career due to his back issues.”
The name of both the teams are quite similar and WWE would not support that. And if we talk about Matt Riddle, he’s suspended for a violation of the company’s Wellness Policy. He’s currently in rehab following his addiction to cocaine.
