WWE has been around for decades and has given us lots of iconic matches to cherish about. From Undertaker Vs Michaels to Cena Vs Rock, from Austin Vs Rock to Bret Vs Shawn from Bret Vs Austin to Angle Vs Lesnar, these were some of, if not the best matchups we have ever seen. These were the Dream matches we deserved to watch. But there are also some Iconic Dream Matches that we never got to see as WWE Fans. So Let’s look at the Top 10 WWE Dream matches that never happened.
10. Daniel Bryan Vs. Kurt Angle
Bryan and Angle are the best technical wrestlers of their respective generations. A Technical match between the two generational talents would have been legendary. But sadly this match never took place. One of the main reasons was that Kurt had already left WWE by the time Bryan arrived.
According to Kurt himself, he regrets not getting the chance to wrestle Bryan. There were plans for both of them to square off the circle in TNA, but that never materialized. The closest we have seen them wrestle was the interaction they had in Greatest Royal Rumble 2018.
9. Shawn Michaels Vs. Brock Lesnar
Michaels and Lesnar are two of the most popular and loved wrestlers in WWE. But it’s astonishing that they never faced each other in a match. They both were in WWE at the time of 2002-2004 but were in different Brands. As a result, they had little to no interaction with each other.
Brock as the next big thing and Michaels as the established crowd favorite superstar, the match between the two would have been magnificent to watch. But it never happened and the closest we ever came to seeing them wrestle was on an Episode on RAW. On the road to Summerslam, We see both of them in an altercation which ended when Shawn hit a sweet chin music to Brock.
8. Kurt Angle Vs Bret Hart
Angle and Hart two of the best technical wrestlers on earth never wrestled each other due to various reasons. Talking about Dream matches in an interview, Angle once said that Bret Hart was always his Dream match from the time he entered WWE.
To Kurt’s dismay, Hart left the WWE for WCW which was followed by him getting Concussed during a match and also followed by a Stroke. Which retired Hart from wrestling for good. It’s sad that we never got to see them wrestle.
7. Brock Lesnar Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
In this particular case, there was a match scheduled for the two to face off against each other in a random RAW episode in a King of the Ring Qualifying match. The result of the match was supposedly for Brock to defeat Austin cleanly. Sources state that Austin was unhappy with the booking and was not ready to take the pin from Brock on a random episode of RAW.
According to several sources, Austin had no problem putting Brock over but he believed that there should be a proper build towards it. He then walked out of the company for the same reason and got back for just a single run against Rock. After which he retired from wrestling. And as a result, we never got to see this match as Brock too left WWE in 2004. Only a small glimpse of how this match would look could be seen on the road to Wrestlemania 20 when Austin attacked Lesnar.
6. Eddie Guerrero Vs. Shawn Michaels
A match between Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels and Latino Heat Eddie Guerrero was allegedly discussed for Wrestlemania 22. But due to the disheartening death of Eddie Guerrero in 2005, it never happened.
A match filled with Guerrero’s shenanigans and HBK’s counter mischiefs would have been perfect to watch. Two of the most beloved superstar squaring off the circle would have been a treat for wrestlers to watch.
5. Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. John Cena
Two of the biggest and most loved superstars of their Generation Cena and Austin never wrestle each other in a match. Surprising isn’t it? The two of the most famous WWE superstars of their era had never faced each other. Why wouldn’t anyone book a match of that caliber?
This is because Austin retired the same year Cena debuted that being the year of 2002. As a result, they had little to no interaction with each other and we never got to see the billion-dollar match between the two. However, the closest we ever came to see was during The Tribute to the Troops 2003.
4. Brock Lesnar Vs. Batista
Brock and Batista were considered to be one of the strongest powerhouses in WWE during the 2000s. Shockingly, they both had their careers paralleled each other. They both used to wrestle in OVW and both had a good physique.
Upon debuting, Brock was instantly pushed to the main event scene whereas Batista joined the stable ‘Evolution’ as their muscle. Also, they both were on different brands when they debuted which minimalize their interaction with each other. And soon after, Lesnar left WWE and as a result, we never got to see this match taking place. A brutal match between the beast and the animal would have been ideal to watch.
3. The Rock Vs. Shawn Michaels
The Iconic Hall of Famers Rock and Shawn Michaels had never faced each other in the ring due to various reasons. One of the foremost reasons stated is that Rock himself does not want to work with HBK. HBK during his early times was dealing with his drug-related issue and was found tough to work with. Sources also state that Shawn used to bully the newcomers and that he also bullied the Rock.
Shawn was reformed upon his 2002 return, but the most anticipated match never took place. It seems hard to believe as Rock and Triple H( HBK’s Friend) are long-time arch-nemesis but Rock and Shawn never came face to face. Due to these reasons, the imminent dream match between the two never took place.
2. Hulk Hogan Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
One of the most anticipated and dreamed WWE matches of every WWE fan is the match between Hulk Hogan and Austin. It is the match for the ages. The match between two eras. The match between the biggest star of the 1980s and the biggest star of the 1990s. Match between Golden Era and The Attitude Era.
The match between one of if not the two biggest Superstars of WWE have ever produced. This match itself would have been more than enough to sell out the tickets of Madison Square Garden.
The Match of this magnitude and this caliber did not take place because Austin allegedly thought that they would not have a Good Match. There were also some rumors that Hogan wanted the match to happen and so did Vince. But Austin did not want to disappoint fans with poor performance.
1. Undertaker Vs. Sting
Undertaker and Sting are two of the most loved and respected wrestlers in professional wrestling. The dream match between the two has been anticipated for years but never took place. This is also the match of ages. A match between two dominating supernatural characters of the two most dominating Professional Wrestling Brands of the Era that being WWE and WCW.
This match would have needed no storyline. The sheer fanbase and the anticipation behind the match would have been more than enough for it to work. When WWE acquired WCW in 2001, the match between the two was thought to be imminent. But Sting chose not to go with WWE at that time.
In 2014 when Sting debuted, the match was thought to be a done deal. But it never happened as Undertaker at that time was dealing with an injury issue. As a result, Sting had to face Triple H in Wrestlemania and subsequently later had to retire due to concussions. Due to these reasons, We never got to see the Dream match between these two legends.
