Brock Lesnar is arguably, the most dominant and dangerous wrestler in WWE. Having prior experience in UFC, Lesnar became a force to be reckoned with.
When Brock first joined WWE in 2002, he was the Next Big Thing who destroyed anyone and anything in his way. After a loss at the hands of Goldberg, he left the company. He returned to the company 10 years later, as an experienced MMA fighter. He went on to have a record-setting Universal Championship reign and became even more dangerous than before. With that said, let’s look at the Top 10 Brock Lesnar matches of all time:
10. Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar- WrestleMania 33
When Goldberg made his return to in-ring competition in 2016, WWE wasted no time in re-igniting the rivalry between him and Lesnar. Their last match didn’t end well for The Beast, so this time he was out for revenge.
Going into their match at Survivor Series, Brock Lesnar didn’t take Goldberg too seriously, thinking that he had ring rust. However, Goldberg shocked the entire world when he defeated The Beast at only 1 minute 26 seconds. After the humiliation, Goldberg continued to get the upper hand in their confrontations, like when he eliminated Lesnar from the 2017 Royal Rumble match. The Beast had enough of the humiliations and put their rivalry to rest when he squashed Goldberg at WrestleMania 33. After 10 consecutive German suplexes and one F5, Lesnar secured the victory. It was a match under 5 minutes, but ended up being one of the most entertaining matches of the night.
9. The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar- SummerSlam 2015
The Deadman was out for revenge against The Beast for ending his WrestleMania streak. Although not the best of their matches, this match did feature a meme-worthy moment when both men sat up, staring at each other and laughing maniacally before Lesnar flipped The Undertaker off.
The match had a controversial ending, when Brock had The Undertaker in a Kimura Lock and the bell rang, which usually signals the end of the match. The referee argued that he never signaled for the bell to ring. Using this distraction, The Undertaker locked Brock in the Hell’s Gate submission. The Beast tried to fight back, but eventually passed out.
8. Brock Lesnar vs Chris Benoit- SmackDown 2003
Chris Benoit and Brock Lesnar’s series of matches are still considered as one of the best to this day. The Rabid Wolverine defeated Lesnar via submission at the 2003 Survivor Series, which earned him a shot at the WWE Championship.
Although the match had a controversial ending, it was still a brilliant match put together by the superstars. When Benoit locked in the Crossface submission on Lesnar, he actually tapped out in the middle of the ring. However, the referee was knocked out and Lesnar took advantage of the situation. He landed an F5 on Benoit and bend a steel chair around his knee. He would then lock the Rabid Wolverine in a new submission lock, called The Brock Lock, causing Benoit to pass out from the pain.
7. Brock Lesnar vs AJ Styles- Survivor Series 2017
AJ Styles is one of the men who proved that they can go pretty far with The Beast despite the massive size difference between them. Going into their match, Lesnar was pretty overconfident, but by the end of their match, Styles had earned his respect.
The match saw AJ Styles give it his all against The Beast. At one point it even seemed like Lesnar was in trouble when Styles locked in the Calf Crusher on him in the middle of the ring. However, Lesnar escaped by pounding his head into the mat. Brock actually sold a lot for AJ, which goes to show how much he respects him. In the climax of the match, as Styles was about to hit the Phenomenal Forearm on The Beast, Lesnar caught him mid-air and put him away with the F5.
6. Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker- Hell In A Cell 2015
This match marked the long rivalry between The Beast and The Deadman. In their previous match, Undertaker defeated Lesnar after a low blow. This time, The Beast was looking to end it all inside the unforgiving structure known as Hell In a Cell.
Both of the superstars bled throughout the match, each suffering multiple chair shots and forms of extreme punishment from each other. In one of the most extreme moments of the match, Brock Lesnar ripped off the hard canvas and exposed the hard surface underneath. This move backfired on Lesnar when Undertaker nearly won the match by hitting a chokeslam and a tombstone piledriver on the exposed ring. The Beast fired back by hitting The Phenom with a low blow, as a payback for SummerSlam and finished the match with a devastating F5.
5. Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman vs Samoa Joe- SummerSlam 2017
This match saw 4 of the company’s biggest guys square off in the ring. This match was one of the highlights of Brock Lesnar’s 500+day Universal Championship reign.
Throughout the man, the 4 men hit each other with finishers, and saw some pretty great action from the Samoan Submission Machine and The Monster Among Men. In the climax of the match, as Roman Reigns was gearing up for the Spear, Brock Lesnar caught him and hit him with the F5 to secure the victory.
4. Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose- Fastlane 2016
This was a match that would be a heavy disadvantage for The Beast. Lesnar was up against the former Shield brothers- Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. This was a spectacular match that saw great action from all 3 superstars.
Although Lesnar dominated most of the match, things quickly turned around when Reigns and Ambrose teamed up on The Beast. After powerbombing him on two tables, they turned their attention on each other. Their fight was broken up by Lesnar who trapped Reigns into The Kimura Lock. Luckily, Ambrose interrupted by hitting Lesnar with a steel chair. After putting The Beast away, Ambrose turned his attention to Reigns, only to be greeted by a Spear to end the match.
3. Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle- SmackDown 2003
Arguably one of the best matches in both Lesnar and Angle’s careers, The Beast and The Gold Medalist looked to end their rivalry in a 60-minute Iron Man match.
Lesnar strategically lost the first count via disqualification, only to pick up 3 consecutive falls by pinfall, submission and a count-out. As the two men laid everything they had on each other, the score went up to 5-2. Now the match clearly in Lesnar’s favour, Angle got desperate. He secured two more falls by hitting a top rope superplex and an Ankle lock. However, Lesnar emerged victorious when he survived another Ankle Lock till the time ran out.
2. Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan- Survivor Series 2018
The result of this match would’ve been pretty easy to predict if Daniel Bryan was still a babyface. However, now that he had left behind his Yes Man persona, things were looking different. Following his return to in-ring competition, fans had expressed their desire for the match. And it’s safe to say that it certainly exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Lesnar dominated in the beginning of the match, ragdolling Daniel Bryan in the ring. However, when the referee was accidentally knocked out, Bryan capitalized on the opportunity and hit Lesnar with a low blow. From thereon, it was a grueling match between the two. Bryan hit The Beast with a barrage of Yes Kicks and running knees, looking to bring the big man down to his size. It got so close that fans thought that Bryan might even pull off an upset. However, Lesnar ended things when he turned a triangle choke to a ring-shattering F5.
1. Brock Lesnar vs John Cena vs Seth Rollins- Royal Rumble 2015
This match alone was the highlight of the event. It was a classic that saw great performances from all 3 men.
As expected, Lesnar dominated the majority of the match. But things changed when Rollins and Cena temporarily teamed up to take out The Beast by putting him through an announcer’s table. The 16-time World Champ and The Architect then turned their attention on each other, putting on a fantastic show. After Rollins landed the Phoenix Splash on John Cena, Lesnar emerged and suplexed Cena out of the ring. He then targeted Rollins, putting him away with an F5 to retain his championship.
