Amongst recent rumors of Vince McMahon taking back control of the creative, Nick Khan recently confirmed that Triple H is still in full control of WWE’s creative.
Vince McMahon seemingly retired from WWE in 2022. However, when news about WWE’s deal with Endeavor came out, McMahon returned to the company. He affirmed that he won’t be involved with any creative aspects of the company, and was just there to boost the sales of the company following the deal with Endeavor. However, RAW after WrestleMania was reportedly heavily influenced by Vince McMahon, with him ordering last-minute changes even after the show aired.
In a taped interview with LightShed Live on April 7th, Nick Khan addressed the rumors by affirming that Triple H will remain the sole Chief Content Officer and addressed McMahon’s role in creative:
“On Monday [April 3], when this deal was officially announced, Vince sent out a company-wide email to our thousand or so employees, including myself, and in the email he laid out the structure of the New company,” Khan said. “Specifically, he articulated that Paul Levesque remains the sole Chief Creative Officer. Sole.”
Khan further said that even if he himself is in charge of the business, he would still seek input and advice from Vince McMahon. After all, he was the one who created the whole empire. Not seeking his advice would be a mistake on anyone’s part. Therefore, even if Triple H is in charge of the creative, he can seek McMahon’s input for any creative decisions.
Fans, on the other hand, have expressed their disapproval of McMahon everywhere, including the #FireVince hashtag trending on Twitter. Vince McMahon’s past shenanigans and crimes have resurfaced including claims of sexual assault and paying hush money to women for keeping quiet. The entire WWE Universe has expressed its dislike for McMahon, even pointing out that WWE was in a much worse position under him before Triple H took over.
What does the future hold for Vince McMahon in WWE?
Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel revealed that he himself convinced Vince McMahon to return to WWE, following the sale of the company to Endeavor.
“I would have bodyslammed him if he thought he thought he was going to leave,” Emanuel said. “Here’s a man who has seen around the corner at every beat over the last 40 years of this business and has a vision of this business way before a lot of people see it. Him now being able to utilize what we’ve built in our flywheel, I’m the luckiest guy in the world. I have Vince McMahon, a visionary that sees around the corner, I have Dana White and what we’ve built. That’s pretty unstoppable.”
It seems that Vince McMahon is going nowhere for the time being, despite the controversy surrounding him. It was reported that Endeavor was aware of these accusations made against McMahon. However, they chose to ignore it as they didn’t want to harm their $21 billion deal with WWE. UFC and WWE are set to be merged into a single giant public company after the merger.
