The Women’s Tag Team Championships are now up for grabs as Liv Morgan and her partner, Raquel Rodriguez had to vacate the titles due to an injury suffered by Morgan on last week’s SmackDown.
Morgan and Rodriguez won the championship from Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch last month. The match not only marked Liv Morgan’s first tag championship win, but also Stratus’ shocking betrayal. Things seemed to be going pretty well for Morgan, until last week when she suffered an injury during her match with Bayley and Dakota Kai.
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were also scheduled to face Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville on this week’s RAW. However, the match was postponed as it was reported that Morgan had suffered a legitimate injury. And it seems to be pretty serious considering the duo had to vacate their titles this week.
It has been announced new champions will be crowned on May 29 on RAW. Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green, Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, Damage CTRL’s Bayley & Iyo Sky and Raquel Rodriguez along with whoever she chooses to be her partner are gonna compete for the championship. Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville were initially the next competitors for the championship. With Rousey and Baszler returning last week and attacking Rodriguez, it is now a Fata Four-Way match for the championships.
For anyone wondering why Dakota Kai wasn’t partnering up with Bayley for the championship match, it was also revealed that she was injured in the same match last week. Both Liv Morgan and Kai are recovering as of now. Michael Cole also reported that Morgan would be missing quite some time due to her injury.
Where exactly did Liv Morgan get injured?
It appears that Liv Morgan suffered a pretty serious injury last week on SmackDown. While injuries are often a part of WWE’s storylines, Morgan’s injury seem to be quite real.
While not much is known about the severity of the injury, some fans have pointed out that her foot bent in the wrong way while performing a move outside the ring. It has been rumoured that she suffered a knee injury, but it it yet to be confirmed.
