Last night’s SmackDown started with a segment between Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens. Rhodes tried to bring Zayn and Owens together, but it didn’t go well. Zayn commented that in order to bring down The Bloodline, they didn’t need to be friends.
This probably hurt Owens, who was trying to rekindle their friendship. He said that maybe he shouldn’t align himself with someone who doesn’t want to be his friend, then he walked out. Realizing he made a mistake, Zayn chased Kevin down to the parking lot. He told Kevin to forget everything that he said about the Bloodline. Zayn said that they were more than friends-they were brothers. However, Owens remained silent. He got into his vehicle and drove off.
Fans have been awaiting the former best friends’ reunion for a long time, but the opening segment made it seem like there probably wasn’t much hope of that happening soon.
Sami Zayn comes face-to-face with Jey Uso
In the closing segment, Sami Zayn finally came face-to-face with Jey Uso after his betrayal. Zayn considered Jey to be a brother when he was in The Bloodline.
Jey was fired up and said that he never once trusted Zayn when he first joined Bloodline. He eventually let his guard down. However, his suspicions were proven true as Zayn turned his back on The Bloodline when he hit Reigns with a steel chair(which definitely caused some PTSD for Reigns).
Sami said that he loved the Bloodline, but he couldn’t take Reigns’ abuse any longer. He told Jey that he had the choice to stop taking any more abuse from The Tribal Chief and become his own man. He further said that Jey wasn’t mad at Zayn because he hit Roman with the chair. He was mad at him because he didn’t get to do it first.
Ultimately, Jimmy lost it and attacked Zayn. He was then joined by Jimmy, and they began to pummel Zayn, kicking him around the ring.
The Usos laid him out on the steel steps, but before they could do further damage, Owens’ music hit. He rushed to Sami Zayn’s aid and unleashed hell on the tag team champions. He fended them off and finally embraced Sami with a hug in the center of the ring. The long-awaited reunion of the former best friends finally happened, and the fans were here for it! Cheers echoed all throughout the arena, and we see Cody Rhodes watching from backstage with a smile on his face.
