On the latest episode of RAW after WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar was set to wrestle for the first time in years in a non-PPV event. Fans expected the show to be a fitting new chapter to the blockbuster that WrestleMania 39 was. However, it did not live up to expectations.
The most notable thing to come out of RAW was Brock Lesnar turning heel again, as he viciously attacked The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes. Brock was supposed to team up with Cody Rhodes to take on Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in tonight’s main event.
Fresh off his win at WrestleMania against Omos, Lesnar was announced to team up with Cody Rhodes, who had lost his match with The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania. Both superstars looked to settle the score with The Head of The Table and Sikoa. It’s also to be noted that Brock lost his WWE Championship to Roman Reigns at last year’s WrestleMania. Both The Beast and The American Nightmare had a reason to fight Roman Reigns. So why did Brock turn on Cody Rhodes before their match even began?
As of now, no one knows. Brock brutalized Cody in every way possible. Firstly, he hit Cody with an F5 in the ring, a move that surprised even Roman Reigns. Reigns and Sikoa quickly exited the ring, while The Beast continued his attack. He stepped on Cody’s throat, hit him with steel chair shots, and F5’d him through the announcer’s table. He unleashed a final attack as he laid him out with another F5 on the steel steps in the ring. The American Nightmare could barely move by the end of the attack.
No one really expected Brock to work well in a team, but to launch an attack this brutal on a defenseless Cody certified him as one of the biggest heels in the company.
Why did Brock Lesnar attack Cody?
Although predictable, the attack was still brutal. It served as an insult to injury to Cody, who lost the biggest match of his career at WrestleMania.
Brock Lesnar was a babyface going into WrestleMania when he faced The Nigerian Giant. His heel turn wasn’t really shocking but came at a surprising time as The Beast recently said that he was unsure of his future in the WWE. It looks like WWE is building up a match between The American Nightmare and The Beast at Backlash.
As for the reason behind The Beast’s unprecedented attack, the real reason might have something to do with Vince McMahon’s involvement with this week’s RAW. Sources revealed that the Chairman recently came back and made last-minute changes before the show aired. Several wrestlers were frustrated with the changes, with some saying that things went back to how they were before Triple H took over.
Brock Lesnar’s sudden heel turn may be the result of Vince’s creative changes. The real reason is still unknown. Whether Mr. McMahon is going to be involved further with RAW and SmackDown remains to be seen.
