In a recent interview, The Undertaker told everyone that he really wanted someone else to end his WrestleMania streak.
Prior to his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30, The Phenom had an undefeated streak of 21-0 at all of the previous WrestleMania events. Although Brock posed a major threat to his streak, fans assumed Undertaker would be victorious anyways.
And that was almost the case until The Phenom revealed in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, that until the day of the event, Taker was supposed to win. However, when Undertaker got to the event, Vince informed him that the outcome of the match was changed, making Brock the one to break his streak.
According to Undertaker, Roman Reigns would have benefited more by being the one to break his streak, and he felt like Brock, at that time didn’t need a win over him.
“I don’t think Brock needed it. Brock was a major attraction and he was a star. I don’t know that it enhanced him anymore. I think it would have been great for Roman (Reigns) if Brock hadn’t already done it, it would have been a huge thing for Roman. But I don’t know that it meant the same to Brock as it would have meant to Roman, or anybody else who’d have done it,” said The Undertaker.
Undertaker said that till the day of the event, he knew he was still going over. He was sitting in his dressing room when Vince McMahon came and let him know of the last-minute change to his match. He changed the outcome of the match to make Brock win. Taker tried giving Vince his input, saying that he didn’t feel that it was necessary for Brock at that time, to have a win over him.
Although Roman Reigns didn’t get to break The Undertaker’s streak, he still handed The Phenom his second loss at WrestleMania 33. The Phenom wrestled his last match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 37, defeating AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match, and finally hung his boots for good.
The Undertaker was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame soon in the class of 2022. Since then Undertaker has been seen making very rare appearances, and mostly under “The American Badass” persona which was not seen to the audience for more than two decades of him playing “The Deadman.”
With a career of 30 years, The Undertaker is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. But what do you guys think? Should Roman Reigns have been the one to break The Phenom’s streak?
