After the return of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship a few weeks ago on RAW, the WWE Universe has been wondering how the new champion is going to be crowned. Well, now they have their answer.
The new World Heavyweight Championship title was unveiled by Triple H a couple of weeks ago on RAW. He went on to say that this championship would be exclusive to a specific brand, i.e. whichever brand does not have the WWE Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns. And he revealed the way of crowning a new champion in a press conference.
In a WWE Backlash press conference held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, The Game announced a new tournament to determine the champion. According to Triple H, at the RAW after Backlash, there would be two Triple Threat matches. Whoever wins in either of the matches, face each other later that night. That person will become the winner from Monday Night RAW.
The same tournament will be held on SmackDown as well. The winner of the two Triple Threat matches would go up against each other. Whoever wins, becomes the winner from SmackDown. Then the two winners from their respective brands will go up against each other at Night of Champions. Their match will determine the new World Heavyweight Champion.
After this announcement, fans had more questions than answers regarding the championship. Who will participate in the four Triple Threats? If the title is exclusive to RAW, then why is SmackDown participating in the tournament? And if someone from SmackDown wins, will they have to move over to RAW? It looks like fans will have to wait before WWE announces more details on the matter.
Who is likely to win the World Heavyweight Championship?
During the press conference, fans chanted the name of the superstar who they wanted to win the new title. And it’s none other than Seth Freakin’ Rollins.
It goes without saying that Seth Rollins is a massive fan favorite. After failing to win the WWE Universal Championship from Roman Reigns last year, fans have been pushing Rollins to get back into the title picture. And now with the debut of a new championship, it looks like he may become the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion, with the amount of support he has been getting.
