WrestleMania is arguably the biggest event in the world of professional wrestling. It is the biggest PPV event of WWE, where some of the company’s best superstars come together to deliver unforgettable matches.
It’s hard to believe that WrestleMania once used to take place in small arenas back in the 90s. Since WrestleMania 22, every other edition of The Showcase Of The Immortals has been held in a stadium. This year marks the 39th edition of The Showcase Of The Immortals, which is going to take place in SoFi Stadium, California. As WrestleMania 39 approaches, let’s look at the Top 5 WrestleMania of all time.
5. WrestleMania 24
This WrestleMania saw one of the greatest of all time, Ric Flair’s career come to an end in a fantastic yet emotional match. Fans bid farewell to The Dirtiest Player In The Game, as Shawn ended his career with Sweet Chin Music. Although Flair would still stick around for many more years in WWE, this match marked his last in-ring fight.
It also had many more memorable matches like The Undertaker and Edge stealing the show in a World Heavyweight Champion match, CM Punk winning the Money In the Bank ladder match and Randy Orton retaining the WWE Championship against his two greatest rivals, John Cena and Triple H. Overall, it was a fun event with a number of marquee matches that are hard to forget.
4. WrestleMania 31
This year’s WrestleMania saw a number of outstanding matches, with Seth Rollins making history by successfully cashing in The Money In the Bank briefcase. He interrupted the match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, capitalizing on the worn-out Roman Reigns and pinning him for the WWE Championship.
Sting made his in-ring debut in WWE, however, lost against Triple H when DX interfered. The Undertaker broke his losing streak by defeating Bray Wyatt. We also got a pretty great segment with The Rock and UFC star Ronda Rousey, teasing her potentially joining WWE at some point. This was a pretty fun event overall and definitely deserves its position high on the list.
3. WrestleMania 30
WrestleMania 30 was just a spectacle to see. Daniel Bryan fought against all odds, defeating Triple H to make his way into the WWE Championship match between Randy Orton and Batista at the main event. Bryan gave his all into winning the match and WWE received one of its biggest pops when Bryan won the Championship.
We also saw The Shield emerge victorious in a six-man tag team match against The Authority’s Kane and The New Age Outlaws. This year’s Showcase Of The Immortals also marked the ending of The Undertaker’s streak at 21-0, with Brock Lesnar being the one to end it. While it caused an uproar among fans, they went home happy with Bryan winning the night. As the saying goes, “You win some, you lose some”.
2. WrestleMania 19
Hailed as one of the greatest, if not the greatest WrestleMania of all time, it showcased several marquee matches. Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels stole the show, with Michaels beating Jericho, The Rock, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s rivalry coming to an end, with The Rock finally getting his WrestleMania win over The Texas Rattlesnake.
Triple H defeated Booker T in a World Heavyweight Championship match, Hulk Hogan devastated Mr. McMahon in a Street Fight and Brock Lesnar ended Kurt Angle’s WWE Championship reign in the main event of the night.
1. WrestleMania 17
Widely regarded as the best WrestleMania of all time, and the best PPV event of the Attitude Era, this year’s Showcase of the Immortals was stacked with amazing matches from start to bottom. We got to see Steve Austin beating The Rock for the second time in their trilogy of matches to win the WWF title.
It also featured some classic matches between Chris Jericho and William Regal, Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, and the tag team title TLC match where Edge and Christian prevailed. Shane McMahon defeated his father, Vince McMahon in a street fight and The Undertaker defeated Triple H, with his streak now at 9-0. It was an excellent WrestleMania that not only furthered some ongoing storylines but saw some really good action from all the superstars involved.
