As she won the Venus Rosewater Dish in 2022, she had to celebrate alone in the absence of her parents since there was a ban on Russian travel throughout Europe due to the Russia-Ukraine war. She defeated Ons Jabeur in three sets in the finals.
In an interview ahead of the Billie Jean Cup, she said that the support from her parents has helped her overcome the tragic loss at WTA Finals. She also highlighted the importance of her mother in her life.
“My mom is someone who I looked up to. Sometimes there are tough moments, tough decisions, but my parents & her especially… she’s the one who helped me a lot”– Elena Rybakina in an interview at the Billie Jean King Cup
