Roman Reigns reigned supreme at this year’s WrestleMania as well, defeating The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes.
The Tribal Chief has been pretty much unstoppable for the last 3 years, ever since he won the WWE Universal Championship after defeating Bray Wyatt at Payback 2020. Since then, he went on to form the villainous stable, The Bloodline. He also won the WWE Championship last year after defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38.
After Cody Rhodes made his grand return to WWE in 2022 at last year’s WrestleMania. He won the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble and went on to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. Fans expected Cody to be the one to finally dethrone The Tribal Chief. He had a huge amount of buildup leading to the match and as a result, fans were disappointed when Roman Reigns retained his Universal title. The decision to have Roman retain the title caused a lot of outrage as Cody was a huge babyface and was supported by the entire WWE Universe to end The Tribal Chief’s title reign.
Roman Reigns says he’s “Just scratching the surface”
After the match, Reigns appeared in a post-WrestleMania conference, where he declared himself the “Greatest Of All Time”.
He said the following at the conference:
“If this is baseball, we’re just in the third inning. There is so much left to do. We said it for a long time, we’re just scratching the surface. I told y’all, it had to be a month after we came back in 2020 after SummerSlam, we’re going to change the whole game. We’re not going to follow suit, we’re not going to run it like TikTok and YouTube Shorts, we’re going to expand you people and upon up your attention span. You’re gonna have to pay attention for longer than 20 seconds y’all because that’s what we’re doing.”
He further said that they are giving the fans “the good stuff” and that he’s always kept his word. He went on to describe the entire Bloodline as the best and addressed that while they do have some problems, he’s always going to step up.
