Swiss Tennis Superstar Roger Federer is in the news again for breaking another Rafel Nadal record this time not on the tennis court. Federar’s outfit that was worn in 2018 is in the news currently. This is the same outfit that he had worn when we won the Australian Open in 2018. This outfit is going to be auctioned in an auction and will be given to the person who will bid the highest for the outfit. What makes this outfit a tennis collector’s treat is that this is the last Nike outfit worn by the Swiss legend before signing a multimillion-dollar deal with Uniqlo.
The Swiss legend’s outfit will be auctioned at the Prestige Memorabilia Auction House in the United Kingdom. The bid will start at 35 thousand dollars which automatically makes his outfit much more expensive than Nadal’s as Rafael Nadal’s shirt which he wore at the Roland Garros in 2019 sold for just over 20 thousand US dollars. If everything goes as planned this will be the most expensive tennis outfit memorabilia sold in an auction ever.
However, the record of the most expensive sports cloth memorabilia item goes to the NBA legend Michael Jordan‘s shirt that he wore in the 1998 NBA finals against the Utah Jazz that was sold at an auction by the Sotheby’s for 10 million US dollars which is a record itself.
Roger Federer comments on upcoming players and overall Tennis scenario
Recently, swiss tennis superstar Roger Federer flew to Vancouver for the 2023 Laver Cup where he did an interview with sports media outlet Eurosport, where he talked about a variety of topics such as the current level of tennis. He also praised the young tennis players who have risen in ranks in the recent years. He also talked quite bluntly about his retirement from professional tennis and without hiding his disappointment for not being able to face new rising talents in the sport. Federer also praised Coco Gauff for winning her first grand slam in the form of the US Open at the age of 19.
Federar complimented her achievement by stating this to the interviewer, “Contemporary tennis is in good shape if I look at what Coco Gauff did at the US Open. I think she did something special, and unique.
She’s been on the circuit for five years and is an incredible girl.”
Federer also talked about the young men’s tennis players who are rising the ranks, he had to say this about them, “Coming to the men, we experienced some great moments: Novak is rewriting history, Carlos Alcaraz’s exploits at Wimbledon, Daniil Medvedev who played fantastically in New York.
Many young men are emerging, a generation against which I couldn’t play.
I am referring to Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to challenge them on the court but I think the future is bright.
The game is evolving, we evolve. But the nice thing is that I enjoy watching the matches and commenting on the results.”
