The moment that the entirety of the WWE Universe has been waiting for is finally here- Rey Mysterio finally snapped and strikes his son Dominik Mysterio on the latest edition of SmackDown.
Over the past few weeks, Dominik has been pushing his father, Rey Mysterio to hit him again and again. He also challenged Rey to a fight at WrestleMania. Dominik called him out every week, insulting him and pushing him for a match.
Rey kept refusing, saying that it would be a “disgrace” for a father to fight his own son. However, this week, we finally got to see Rey Mysterio beating down Dominik after he insulted his mother and sister who was sitting at ringside.
This was something that everyone knew would happen in the end. However, the way the crowd exploded when Rey Mysterio hit Dominik was something that is rarely seen. SmackDown received its biggest pop for the night when the moment finally happened.
Dominik originally turned on his father at Clash at the Castle, when he hit Edge with a low blow and delivered a clothesline to Rey. Since then, Dominik joined The Judgement Day(Finn Balor, Rhea Ripley, and Damian Priest). Ever since Rey Mysterio got introduced into the Hall Of Fame, Dominik has been mocking and insulting his father, each and every week, demanding a match.
Even after Dominik taunted Rey, saying that he should have been Eddie’s son, Rey still didn’t let his anger take over and said that no matter what happened, he would always love Dominik.
What caused Rey Mysterio to finally snap?
Well, that ended this week on SmackDown as Rey was finally pushed too far. He had a match against LA Knight, which he lost due to Dominik’s interference. Dominik once again asked his father to fight him at WrestleMania, before calling him a coward for refusing. Rey turned down the match and walked up the ramp. Dominik then proceeded to disrespect his mother and sister, who were sitting at the ringside. He berated his sister, and when his mother tried to speak up, Dominik told her to “shut up”.
This was the final straw for Rey, as he stormed to the ringside and hit Dominik with a right hook. The crowd exploded in cheers, while Rey took the mic and said that if Dominik wanted a match at WrestleMania against him, he got it now. This match was later made official. We will finally see Rey Mysterio facing off against his own son Dominik, in the Father vs Son match at WrestleMania 39. Stay tuned to find out who emerges victorious!
