He was also asked about playing a final against Brazil in World Cup and to this, he said, “It would be great, and I even joke about it to Casemiro and we think it would be wonderful. It would be tough as it’s the toughest competition in football”.
So, Qatar is World Cup-ready, Fans are ready, teams are ready and Ronaldo is ready too.
Records Ronaldo can break this World Cup
Ronaldo’s recent interview criticizing his club, Manchester United, has cast a cloud over his World Cup preparations, but that shouldn’t take away from the fact that he may become the first male player in history to score at five successive World Cups.
The Portugal captain equaled the record shared held by Brazilian legend Pele (1958, 1962, 1966, 1970) and German greats Miroslav Klose (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014), Uwe Seeler, and others by scoring at least one goal in each of the finals in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018. (1958, 1962, 1966, 1970). Ronaldo will therefore become independent after scoring just one goal in Qatar.
While there’s still a chance, he could break this particular record in 2022, Ronaldo can rest easy knowing he currently holds the record as the oldest player to achieve a hat trick at a World Cup after scoring three goals against Spain in the 2018 group stage at the age of 33 years and 130 days. In Group H, Portugal will compete against Ghana, Uruguay, and South Korea.
