Former Aston Villa player Gabby Agbonlahor thinks that Portuguese Star Striker Cristiano Ronaldo should be banned from Manchester United after he was charged by the English Football Association (FA).
While talking to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England Striker said that Cristiano Ronaldo’s actions towards a young Everton fan were ‘Ridiculous’. The Portuguese captain snatched the phone of a young Toffees fan after suffering a 1-0 loss at Goodison Park in April.
The police investigation in the matter ended with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner getting issued a caution but things were not taken further. The FA confirmed last week (23 September) that the forward has now been hit with a charge for “improper and/or violent” conduct.
The Red Devils will play their next match on Sunday (2 October). Erik ten Hag’s side will travel to Etihad Stadium in order to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Manchester derby.
What does former Aston Villa attacker Gabby Agbonlahor say about the Portuguese Captain Cristiano Ronaldo?
Gabby Agbonlahor said that Cristiano Ronaldo should not be a part of the game as a result of the charge.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It was a bit ridiculous. Ronaldo, you can’t take a fan’s phone like that, it’s not on. I feel he should get a ban. I feel like a fine doesn’t matter to someone like Ronaldo, it’s not an issue. He’ll learn from that and know that he won’t be able to do it again.”
Although, Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t started a game in Premier League under Dutch manager Erik ten Hag after matchday two. The Red Devils faced Brentford on matchday two where they suffered a dismal defeat of 4-0 from the Bees.
In order to make things worse, the Portugal captain has found the net just once in eight domestic games across all competitions this season.
