WWE Superstar Gunther makes a bold prediction for his career ahead of his match at WrestleMania 39.
Gunther is without a doubt, one of the best performers on the WWE roster today. He is the current WWE Intercontinental Champion and is set to defend his title against The Celtic Warrior, Sheamus, and The Scottish Warrior, Drew McIntyre in a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 39. Gunther had a pretty great run on the main roster. Ever since he won the Intercontinental Championship, he has defended it successfully on numerous occasions and has one of the longest IC titles reigns in WWE history.
Speaking with Ariel Helwani from BT Sport, Gunther made a prediction that he would main event next year’s WrestleMania. He also discussed possible future matches with Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. He also said he’s happy that he’s not facing Brock Lesnar at the moment. According to him, he’s not sure about the crowd’s reaction to their match, or whether the match will live up to their expectations.
When Gunther was asked where he sees himself at next year’s WrestleMania, he confidently replied:
“The main event. That’s a prediction.”
He was also asked whether he saw himself in the World Championship match at WrestleMania 40, and he replied:
“We shall see. I don’t plan on losing this one and I want to make it the most important thing there is.”
Currently, The Ring General is set to face McIntyre and Sheamus in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39.
Is Gunther unhappy about facing McIntyre and Sheamus at WrestleMania?
Almost a month ago, a Fatal 5-Way match was held on SmackDown to determine the No.1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship at The Show of Shows.
The Scottish and The Celtic Warrior both won the match by double countdown. Therefore, to determine the true No.1 Contender, Adam Pierce announced that they both would face each other on SmackDown next week. However, even that match ended with a double countdown. Frustrated, Gunther came out and attacked both the potential challengers. Adam Pierce then decided for both Sheamus and McIntyre to face Gunther in a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania for the Intercontinental Championship.
The Ring General apparently, wasn’t happy with Pierce’s decision. During the contract signing of the title match, he came out and questioned the official’s decision. He ended up signing the contract and declared that he didn’t care who he faced at WrestleMania.
Confident in his skills, Gunther plans on holding on to the IC title till WrestleMania 40. But is it entirely possible? Watch their match at WrestleMania 39 to find out!
