On this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Dominik continues to push Rey for a match at WrestleMania. The Ex-con has been trying for weeks to get his father to fight him at the Showcase of Immortals. However, Rey Mysterio has been consistently trying to avoid a fight with his son.
After turning on his father, Dominik has been trying for weeks to get a match against him at WrestleMania. He has been taunting Mysterio for weeks, hoping that he would finally snap and attack him, thus confirming their match. However, Rey Mysterio has made it clear week after week, that no matter what his foolish son did, he would not fight his own son.
When The Master of 619 got inducted into the Hall Of Fame, Dominik came out to taunt him, saying that in order to build his Hall Of Fame career, he did it “at the expense of his family”. He continued week after week, pushing Mysterio for a fight, going so far as to say that “he should have been Eddie’s son”. Despite all this, Mysterio still refused to fight him, saying that he had always loved him and he still does.
Although pretty much the entirety of WWE wants Rey Mysterio to beat up his son, he continues to reject the proposal, saying that he would never fight his son. On this week’s edition of SmackDown, Dom yet again calls out his father, demanding a fight.
Rey Mysterio rejects Dominik’s futile challenge
Mysterio finally snaps back at him, saying that whenever Dominik got into trouble, he would use the “Mysterio” name to get out of it. On the verge of tears, Rey said that he was getting inducted into the Hall Of Fame, and he would want nothing more than for his son to stand on the stage, by his side. Mysterio told him that if it was some other spoiled brat who came out and demanded a match against Rey, he would have no problem beating him up. Dominik is his son, and to fight him would be the greatest disrespect as a father, Rey says.
“I’m not going to fight you now, I’m not going to fight you (ever), and I’m not going to fight you at WrestleMania,” Rey said definitively.
Later that night, we see LA Knight backstage as he confronts Mysterio. Knight offered to fight Dom on his behalf. “You can call me LA Mysterio. I’ll be a deadbeat dad too”, he said. The yet-to-become Hall of Famer smacked the soul out of Knight with a powerful punch to his face.
