WWE Legend Stone Cold Steve Austin gave his verdict on the main event of night 1 of WrestleMania featuring Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes as he shockingly stated that it was the right call to make Cody Lose and absolutely loved the match
WrestleMania 39 was one of the most hyped up WrestleManias of all time and the main focus this year for the grand event was set up around the main event featuring The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns and The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes. With exceptional promo segments and build up, it looked like Cody Rhodes would go all the way and successfully end Roman’s title reign and become the new Undisputed WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion and finally finish his story since making his return to the company last year.
The match itself delivered upto the hype with both the superstars giving it their all and putting up a show with large amount of fans supporting Rhodes, it looked like it would be an ultimate end to Roman’s title reign and Cody will finish his story at the biggest stage. However, after hitting two CrossRhodes on Roman, Solo Sikoa interfered in the match delivering a Samoan Spike to Cody followed by a spear by Reigns which ultimately saw Cody lose and suffer his biggest loss at WrestleMania.
While most fans were unhappy with the decision, WWE legend ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin appeared at Sports Illustrated and gave a shocking verdict on the match.
According to the Attitude era legend, it was the right call to make Cody lose against Roman Reigns and stated how he absolutely loved the main event and on a star scale,he would rate it a perfect five as he absolutely loved the finish and even texted many people working on this match about how good the build up was and wouldn’t have changed a thing about it and also sent a one word text about the match,’Magnificent’.
Stone Cold further stated that according to him, the belt cannot be taken away from Roman right now and maybe in future Cody can be the champion but right now it is not the right call to make him champion and the ending was perfectly written.
