Alexander Bublik witnessed a peculiar incident with a spectator during his quarterfinal match at the Adelaide International.
The No.8 seed Alexander Bublik, secured victory over No.4 seed Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinal, defeating 3-6, 7-6, 5-7 in a thrilling three-set match. It was their second meeting after the Queen’s club championship two years ago, where Musetti lost to him in the round of 32.
In a notable moment during the game, Musetti executed an exceptional shot just out of Bublik’s reach in a rally. Despite, making a huge effort to reach the ball, Bublik ended up leaping into the crowd when he couldn’t halt his momentum on the court. Upon returning to the court, he playfully grabbed popcorn from a spectator enjoying it in the stands.
He defeated James McCabe and Dan Evans on his way to the quarterfinals. Now, Alexander Bublik is set to take on Jack Draper in the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament, with Draper emerging victorious against top seed Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals.
Making his second appearance at the tournament since playing four years ago, Bublik experienced a second-round exit in his previous stint, losing to Dan Evans. However, this time, he achieved sweet revenge by defeating Evans in the second round.
Alexander Bublik expresses privacy concerns regarding his child in the public eye
Kazakh tennis player, Alexander Bublik surprised his fans last year with the announcement of the birth of his child, Vasily, with wife Tatiyana. He expressed in a recent interview that he is not a fan of media attention when it comes to his child.
Bublik who has been known for keeping his personal life away from the media, emphasized that he wouldn’t want his child to be a ‘headliner’ or have their photos plastered on every public platform.
“I wouldn’t want my child to be a ‘headliner’. Or so that photographs of the child can be found in every public page in the world. I believe that personal life should be personal, at least for me.”– Alexander Bublik in an interview with Championat
He revealed that his wife, Tatiyana, played a crucial role in shaping his perspective. She made him think if he would want his childhood photos to be shared worldwide. Bublik acknowledged her perspective and expressed his desire for Vasily to make those decisions for himself when he grows up.
“My wife said a very correct thing. I wanted to post something from my vacation – there were a lot of cute photos – and she asked: Would you like the whole world to see your childhood photos when you grow up? I thought that probably not. Therefore, I would like him to decide for himself, when he grows up, whether to display childhood photos or not. Yes, as a parent I think this is funny.”– Alexander Bublik in an interview with Championat
