Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has backed his teammate, Germany International Jamal Musiala saying he’ll be a future Ballon d’Or winner after he missed on the Kopa Trophy as Barcelona’s Gavi cliched the Trophy.
The 19-year-old Bayern Munich player was seen as one of the front-runners in the Kopa Trophy for 2022. The Kopa Trophy acknowledges the best-performing player under age 21.
Spain International, Gavi won the prestigious prize and that left Bayern Munich fans, players and Managers disappointed and surprised because the Baravians thought that Jamal Musiala should have won the Kopa Trophy.
Musiala finished in the 3rd spot behind Eduardo Camavinga. While Borussia Dortmund star midfielder Jude Bellingham and Paris Saint-Germain defender Nuno Mendes were in the 4th and 5th spots.

But Alphonso Davies thinks that his teammate will surely lift a Ballon d’Or in future. The Canadian said, “They may have denied you of your Kopa Trophy, but they won’t deny you of your future Ballon d’Or #GoldenBoy.”
Jamal Musiala has emerged as a great prospect for the German side. He made his senior debut for Bayern Munich in 2020 and he became the youngest debutant in a 3-1 win over SC Freiburg for the club.
For Julian Nagelsmann’s side, the young German has made 92 appearances scoring 22 goals and creating 15 assists across competitions. The 2021-22 was the best season for him, where he scored eight goals and provided 6 assists in 40 appearances across the competition.
Nagelsmann clearly feels that the midfielder deserved to win the award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, saying: “You wear club glasses. In my eyes, however, Musiala and Bellingham have had a better season than the winner, Gavi, who is also doing well.”
