After playing a draw against CA Osasuna, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid are again back on the winning track. Los Blancos won against Gefate in their matchday eight fixture.
One only goal was scored in the match and that was scored by young Brazilian defender Éder Militão. He broke the deadlock in just the third minute after he headed the ball into the net with the help of a lofted ball from Luka Modric.
For a time being, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid are at the top of La Liga. And if Barcelona managed to win a match this time, then they’ll head towards the top of the league table because of the goal difference.
They’ll next face FC Shakhtar Donetsk in their fourth match of the UEFA Champions League this season. And afterwards, they’ll face FC Barcelona in the much-awaited El Clasico which will take place on 16th October.
Real Madrid were missing star striker Karim Benzema and were certainly missing the French striker’s eye for goal in this match against Gefate. The Santiago Bernabéu side had 18 attempts against Getafe and only four were on target. The 34-year-old, who has three La Liga goals this season, would have provided an extra threat up front had he been fit.
What does Carlo Ancelotti have to say about Real Madrid players and the win over Gefate?
After the match, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was about some of the team players. Firstly, he was asked about Federico Valverde who’s in brilliant form this season.
“I’ve spoken to him, and he told me that his favourite position is to be out there and playing. He doesn’t enjoy being on the bench.”
Then, the Italian manager was asked about Eden Hazard, who’s currently in the top ten list of the highest-paid players in the world but he doesn’t get enough minutes. Ancelotti said “He’s fine and is training well. He’ll get his chance very soon.”
About the match, Carlo Ancelotti said “The team played well and deserved the win. I come away very pleased because last season we slipped up here and we were more solid, and stronger in our duels this time around.”
