Magnus Carlsen, the best chess player in the world sat down for an interview with GothamChess and answered the GOAT question. He named Novak Djokovic as his pick for the Greatest Tennis Player of all time.
Novak Djokovic continues to define greatness on the court. He has defied all odds to become tennis’ best. This past season Novak made a huge jump in further making and cementing his case in the GOAT category. He won three of the four major Grand Slams missing out only the Wimbledon. These runs have put him at 24 Grand Slam wins for his career shadowing Nadal’s 22.

The Chess Grandmaster recognized Novak’s Australian Open story as the reason for choosing him as the GOAT. To recap, Novak wasn’t let to enter the competition in 2022 because of the COVID-19 protocols of Australia. However, Nole in his typical fashion came back strong and won the competition this year.

In the same interview, however, Carlsen mentioned that it wasn’t always Novak. He mentions that earlier it was Roger Federer, who he considered as the Best Tennis player of all time. Also, he said that he identifies his game more as Nadal than Novak or Federer.
“Probably, Federer but I always identified more with the way Nadal plays.”
“It would be a little bit surprising to see him doing the Golden Slam” – Alex Corretja expresses his opinion on Novak Djokovic’s chances of winning a Gold Medal at the Summer Olympics
Alex Corretja expressed his views on Novak completing a Career Golden Slam.
In a recent interview given to Eurosport, Corretja mentions the Paris Summer Olympics 2024. He also shed some light on why he thinks it would be difficult for Novak to win the Gold medal.
The stage is set for the Summer Olympics 2024 and the tennis world has already started its speculation on the winner of the competition. Novak Djokovic has appeared to be the early favorite for becoming the Gold medallist for many. However, Corretja has contrasted these odds by mentioning a few hindrances that Nole might have to face during the event. He said :
āI think that would be a little bit surprising [winning a Golden Slam] because even if he improves his game so much, heās getting older.ā
Corretja also added that Nole will continue to win Grand Slams but his age will make it harder for him to do so.
