Novak Djokovic commented on his love-hate relationship with the crowd at the Paris Masters after clinching the title for the seventh time.
Novak Djokovic defeated Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-3 to clinch the title. It was the 40th Masters Title of his career as he won his seventh Paris Masters title.
Grigor Dimitrov faced a tough draw which he had to overcome to reach the finals. He defeated Lorenzo Musetti, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Bublik, Hubert Hurcakz, and Stefanos Tsitsipas on the way. His matches were no different from Djokovic’s as all his matches were three-set finishes except for the match against Bublik. It was his first Masters Final since 2017.
In the post-match interview after the final, Djokovic mentioned how he was on the brink of losing his last three matches but fought his way back to win the matches. All his last three matches were pushed to the decider.
He has also been suffering from a stomach bug in this tournament. His discomfort was clearly visible and noticed in all his matches in the Paris Masters. He adapted himself to every situation throughout this tournament and finally clinched the victory in the final match to win his 7th Paris Masters Title.
Added to that, the crowd in Paris was not in favor of his win. They were constantly booing and trying to make distracting noises during his serves. But it didn’t seem to stop Djokovic from achieving his goals.
“The relationship(with the crowd) is very special. Kind of a love-hate relationship this week. But yeah, there was a lot of energy present in my matches”

Novak Djokovic v/s stomach issues in Paris Masters
Novak Djokovic overcame his stomach bug at the final Masters tournament in Paris last week.
It was Djokovic’s match on Thursday against Griekspoor when he mentioned his difficulty. He had the worst day with this pain in this match. He lost the first set and had to call the doctor. His energy level was very low and it was difficult for him to concentrate on the match with this.
But the 24-time Grand Slam winner always finds a way to come back into the match. His trouble was visible in the matches as he lost the first set in three consecutive matches, but he fought back to win the matches. It was firstly Griekspoor, then Holger Rune, and then Rublev in the next matches.
“Honestly, I’ve been spending more time in the toilet than on the tennis court for several days now, I’m dealing with stomach problems and I’m not quite feeling myself.”

And ultimately, Novak conquered his discomfort and won the final matchup to win his 40th Masters 1000 title.
