Former Real Madrid player and star midfielder Mesut Ozil has shown his contentment and love for Karim Benzema after he was crowned as the Ballon d’Or winner for 2022.
Karim Benzema was widely expected as the Ballon d’Or winner regarding his brilliant performance for the Santiago Bernabéu side last season. The Frenchman scored 44 goals and provided 15 assists in just 46 appearances for Los Blancos.
The Target man helped Carlo Ancelotti’s side win the LaLiga title, Champions League and Supercopa de Espana. Karim Benzema also made a comeback in the France squad and led them to UEFA Nations League Triumph.
And this year, the 34-year-old finally lifted the prestigious individual trophy, Ballon d’Or after being nominated on nine previous occasions. Benzema’s former teammate, German Midfielder Mesut Ozil played alongside the Frenchman between 2010 to 2013.

And after the attacker’s triumph, Mesut Ozil tweeted “My boy Benzi – the best player in the world. I’ve always said you will win this trophy and you deserve it so much. Proud of you my brother.”
Former Real Madrid defensive midfielder Casemiro, who’s a part of Manchester United currently, also congratulated the Frenchman saying “Congratulations my friend, it’s been an honour to play with you.”
Former Ballon d’Or winner and Brazilian Icon Kaka, who has also played alongside Benzema added “Congratulations my friend, it’s been an honour to play with you.”
Karim Benzema’s current teammates also heaped praise for the Frenchman. Fellow young attacker Vinicius Junior described him as the best while according to Eduardo Camavinga his victory was “the people’s Ballon d’Or”.
“This prize in front of me makes me really proud,” said Benzema. “When I was small, it was a childhood dream, I never gave up. Anything is possible. I’m really proud of my journey here. It wasn’t easy, it was a difficult time for my family as well.”
