Former Argentina international Diego Milito says Haaland “always requires service from his teammates” after scoring his 19th goal of the season in City’s 5-0 win against Copenhagen on Wednesday.
Milito says, in comparison to Paris Saint-Kylian Germain’s Mbappe, Erling Haaland relies too much on his Manchester City teammates and does not generate enough for himself. The Norwegian averages a goal every 48 minutes and has three hat-tricks in the Premier League, including one in last week’s Manchester derby.
What has Diego Milito said about Haaland and Mbappe?
The 22-year-old has also provided three assists, demonstrating why Pep Guardiola acquired him from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Haaland’s ability to spot an opportunity in front of goal is unrivalled, and he’s delivering, with the forward already netting 14 goals in eight Premier League games.
Milito, on the other hand, is not convinced by Haaland since he does not address the problem on his own and has likened his predicament to that of Mbappe. During his early career, the Frenchman has already won the World Cup and a lot of big honours.
Milito said Sport Gazzetta Italia, “I’ve always liked players more who can solve it themselves. Haaland, who is devastating, always needs service from his teammates. Mbappé can create goals by himself from nothing. But he knows how to give assists & find goals”.
Putting the ball in the net has become second nature for Haaland in this City club, but Guardiola claims he has done nothing to improve his new centre-goalscoring forward’s instincts.
Mbappe Vs Haaland
The Norwegian striker is having a fantastic season at Manchester City, having scored 12 goals in only seven Premier League matches since the season began. Erling Haaland is aided by top playmaker Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Fodan.
On the other page, Kylian Mbappe is just one goal behind his teammate Neymar Jr in being the top scorer of the Ligue 1 with seven goals. Although, Mbappe is supported by the best in the world, that are Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi.
However, the players are in their early twenties and are very youthful. But they play for top-tier football clubs, and with their presence, their teams are legitimate contenders for the European Championship. However, if they meet on the European arena, the controversy would undoubtedly intensify.
