Novak Djokovic was thrilled to play and win in front of his kids yesterday as he won the Nitto ATP Finals while further breaking his own records.
Djokovic surpassed Roger Federer’s record of six ATP Finals Titles yesterday. He defeated local boy Jannik Sinner to clinch his seventh ATP Finals title. His family was present at the Pala Alpitour to watch the match.
Following his win, he rushed towards his children to hug and kiss them. He has a son and a daughter with his wife Jelena.
Djokovic and Jelena who had been dating since 2005, got married to each other in 2014, and in October they welcomed their son Stefan Djokovic. They gave birth to their daughter Tara Djokovic in 2017. His family was expected there yesterday in the finals to cheer him and Djokovic was happy to see them.
In a post-match interview, Djokovic mentioned what a thrill it was for him as his children were watching him perform.
“They have been so good last couple of days watching tennis and its a thrill. I always wanted to perform in front of them once they reach the age that they are aware of what’s going on and I think this is the age right now, they are concious of what’s happening. I am so grateful to be a father of these two wonderful angels. They have blessed me with so much happiness and joy in my life, love and they give me strength.”

His son Stefan is 9 and his daughter is just six years old as they saw their father lift the trophy. They are very young but are now aware of Djokovic’s achievements. They have been seen in all major tournaments cheering for Djokovic but they were too young to understand. It was a wonderful moment for Djokovic as a father to share his victory yesterday.
