Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe‘s ranking was 6th in the Ballon d’Or for this year. Mohamed Salah, Robert Lewandowski, Sadio Mane, Kevin de Bruyne and Karim Benzema were above the French International.
It was expected that the 23-year-old will end up a little above but that didn’t happen. He was ahead of Real Madrid Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on the list. Kylian Mbappe played a crucial role in Ligue 1 triumph in 2021-22.
The Frenchman scored 28 goals and created an equally outstanding 19 assists in 35 appearances for Les Parisiens. While playing for France in the UEFA Nations League, he scored six goals and also provided six assists.
Although, Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain got knocked out by Los Blancos in the round of 16 with a score of 3-2 on aggregate. But he managed to lift the UEFA Nations League trophy with France the last term.
Kylian Mbappe finished ninth in the 2021 Ballon d’Or rankings with 58 points to his name.
The forward was 15 points shy of eighth place, occupied by Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.
The young attacker had a brilliant 2020-21 season with Les Parisiens. Kylian Mbappe scored a total of 42 goals and 11 assists in just 47 appearances for the side in all competitions that season.
The 2018 World Cup winner finished above his teammates Neymar Jr and Gianluigi Donnarumma who ended in the 16th and 10th number respectively. He was the highest-rated PSG star in this year’s Ballon d’Or. Last year, it was Lionel Messi who also won the Ballon d’Or.
