The greatest footballer of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo has 32 trophies and the highest number of goals to boast his title. His endless records and mind-blowing statistics are the dreams every footballer is trying to live.
However, after 20 years of his senior career in football, Ronaldo before flying to Qatar for his possibly last World Cup came up to the media and shared the hardships and discomfort he is having with his current club Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo spoke up about the lack of respect he has been getting in this club and for the current manager Erik Ten Hag these were his thoughts, “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”
In an interview with Piers Morgan, for the TV show Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ronaldo spoke for 90 minutes about his current situation with the club and opened up about the internal discord and his views about the club.
Ronaldo says that at the club, he feels betrayed, and he feels frustrated by people calling him a ‘black sheep’ and blaming him for all the wrong things that are happening in the club.
Cristiano’s actual words go like this: “Yes, I feel betrayed. And I felt that some people don’t want me here.” He adds, “Not only this year but last year too.” Ronaldo says that many people at the senior executive level want him gone from the team.
When asked by Piers that are they forcing him out he replies, “Yes, not only the coach but the other two or three guys that are around the club,” want him out of the team.
He also speaks about the team’s worsening condition and says, “Since Sir Alex Ferguson left, I’ve seen no evolution in the club. The progress was zero.” Ronaldo also questions the crowning of Ralf Rangnick as the interim head coach when they sacked Ole Gunnar.
Cristiano says, “After Manchester United sack Ole, they bring a sport directive, which is something that nobody understand. This guy is not even a coach. A bigger club like Manchester United bring a sport directive surprises not only me but the whole world.”
Cristiano also says that the club is still the same and has undergone no evolution. He says not the technology, not the gym, not the pool, nothing has changed since he left the club a decade back in time. Ronaldo says this surprises him a lot to see no progress in a giant club like Manchester United.
