Carlos Alcaraz was set to face Novak Djokovic in the Riyadh Cup on Wednesday. The exhibition match produced some breath-taking moments which included an epic comeback from the Spaniard to take down the World No. 1.
Alcaraz was down a set but won the match by winning the next two. The final score read 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
During the lead-up to the match, Carlos Alcaraz was inquired about Rafael Nadal and what are his expectations from his compatriot’s comeback. Alcaraz showed optimism in his answer and told the reporters that he expects a 100% fit Nadal coming back.
He also suggested that the legendary El Nino wouldn’t be looking for a mere comeback but would be hungry to win more titles and add to his illustrious career.
“I think he’s ready. I saw videos of him in training, he looks 100%.
Carlos also added that he had heard from fellow tennis players who have played and trained with Nadal. They have told him great things about the 37-year-old’s workouts and fitness.
“Other players told me that they had trained with Rafa in recent weeks and that he will return to the tour with a good level. His best level. I think he is ready to do great things in 2024”
While Nadal will begin his campaign from Brisbane International beginning 31st December, Alcaraz has decided to compete directly in the Australian Open.

Tennis fans await a highly anticipated showdown as former World No. 1, Rafael Nadal is set to face off against the current World No. 2, Carlos Alcaraz, in an exhibition match organized by Netflix.
This exhibition match is being called ‘The Netflix Slam,’ and will take place at the Michelob Ultra Arena, MGM Resorts’ Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The event takes place on 3rd March 2024.
Nadal shared his excitement for the match and its location. He shared his enthusiasm to play in an iconic city like Vegas.
“I’m very excited for my first visit to Las Vegas, one of the most iconic and entertaining cities in the world.”
He further added that playing against his compatriot, Alcaraz is exciting for him and the Spanish Fans.
“I’m also very excited to be playing with my fellow countryman Carlos Alcaraz. I am sure it will be a fantastic night of tennis.”
