This fierce matchup between Red Star Belgrade and Partizan Belgrade is referred to as one of the most bitter rivalries in the world. The Belgrade Derby also has one of the most violent atmospheres.

1. Real Madrid vs Barcelona
One of the greatest rivalries, El Classico is the battle between the two giants: Real Madrid and Barcelona. El Classico, unlike the other derbies, is known for its quality of game rather than the extent of rivalry. An equal and balanced fight is what makes it El Classico.
However, it was not the same on the 19th of June 1943. Backed by the great leader of Spain General France, Barcelona walked into Madrid’s home ground. Estadio Chamartin was the only place where people from Madrid could express their feelings. General Franco preached Catalanism and wanted to make the whole of Spain follow it.
Although this team of 11 was more than enough to express their dissent. Madrid went on to defeat Barcelona with a finishing scoreline of 11-1. This won them the semi-final of the 1943 Copa del Generalísimo as Barcelona had just a 3-0 lead in their home leg.
